So, I've asked this like, 3 times in the past, but it's been about a year since the last time I asked so...

Are you guys going to ditch vB3.8? I mean, it's only a matter of time before it's dropped, and seeing as Xenforo is more than stable (Hiroshi Sotomura said that "if" you were to switch to Xenforo you'd have to see a stable release first), and IPB is plenty stable, I'm just wondering what the hold up is? I understand you'll lose a ton of themes and edits in the move, but well, better now than when you have 20 more themes that you'll lose. xp

At least tell me if you've tested the conversion on a local copy. Considering this site is entirely a forum (Well, and an Oekaki but I never go there myself), the forum software means a lot, and gawd is vB3.8 outdated.

From what I know, the only time we'll switch software is if/when vBulletin 3.8 is no longer supported. Personally, if we switch, I'm hoping we switch to IPB rather than Xenforo, but that's more of a personal taste than anything.

I don't know if I should say something, but I read on the help website a couple weeks ago (don't judge me ok? I was bored) that VB3.8 costs a yearly fee, while VB4 is a one-time thing. (Is that true?)

No, when you purchase a software (At least Xenforo, IPB, and vB4) you get a year of updates and support, once the year is up you can still get the last version released while you were a paying customer and use it, but no support or any more updates until you pay again.

But thanks for the response Patchisou, I love the XF theme system which is why it gets my vote (And the "out of the box" features it has are pretty nice). But IPB is nice as well. As long as PC moves away from vB (Or more specifically, Internet Brands) I'll be happy. xp

Oh and just read that when 4.2 is released 3.8 will reach EOL. It's at 4.1.12 atm, so seemingly soon.
