Music Club (please read first post before joining)

    Welcome to the PC Music Club!
    The purpose of this club is discussing and learning more about music. Everyone is invited as long as you become approved and/or you display a great liking for music and not in a superficial way.

    Requirements before being approved as a member:

    • State your favorite band (up to three)
    • State your favorite genre (only one)
    • Explain why you like music besides "it sounds good" or "it displays emotion" because
      • a) all music sounds good and
      • b) all music display emotions or sometimes don't display emotions in order to create a unique effect (listen to "Numb" by U2 or "Polly" by Nirvana)


    If you are approved, you represent your own genre. (your favorite genre) More people can represent a certain genre.

    There is no governing body for this club, so don't ask to be president or whatever. Just the founder or approving body, which we'll probably get one if there are more members.

    Music is what drives me. It helps surface ideas when I'm stuck. It helps bring out the 'evil' in me when I get competitive...all in all music to me is a motivator.

    helps me relaxe or get over obstacles in life like a break up etc....

    State your favorite genre: Ska
    Explain why you like music: I like the huge variety of music that exists in the world. I think it's great how everything from English rap, to American indie, to Japanese pop, to classical pieces dating back centuries can all sound so excellent, yet have almost nothing in common. Music fascinates me. I find motivation in the music that I listen to. Music is also a great way to block out dumb conversations that peope around you are having.
     
    well ok, why do stars of music indorse AIDS will almost every artist smokes pot? like lindsy lohan or lil jon!

    * Explain why you like music besides "it sounds good" or "it displays emotion": It's something I can use to get away from the world. Music goes everywhere with you, whether it's played around you or you're creating it yourself. It's a constant companion. It's something you can bury yourself in when there's nothing else around you.

    Rap. Rock a very close second.

    Music makes me feel something special. I don't quite know what that something is, but I like it. Sometimes when I'm frustrated I just turn up the volume and it makes me relax.
     
    So, this' just a music discussion club? We should do something bold like promoting appreciation between fans of different genres. It would save PC from all the "Rap vs. Rock" flame wars and all the "Green Day is/is not punk" threads. But anyway... right now I'm listening to "Fit but you know it" by The Streets. It's a really funny song. At least I think it is.
     
    So, this' just a music discussion club? We should do something bold like promoting appreciation between fans of different genres. It would save PC from all the "Rap vs. Rock" flame wars and all the "Green Day is/is not punk" threads.

    I like music because of mainly the beat and the lyrics of the music.
    I love listening to music that has lyrics that can make me feel something. I don't like listening to a song when the lyrics aren't meaningful... so I like music because of at times it can have a deeper meaning that can either make me feel good or bad.
    I also like music because of when some music has the tune of piano in it... I think music at times can make me feel calmer when things are going badly for me so that is another reason why I like music.
     
    Good point there, Ryan. I have to agree with you... I prefer rock to rap, but there's no reason why that should mean rap automatically sucks :)
     
    Welcome to the club J_A and Ivan. Caroline, could you be more specific to what kind of rock?

    As for this whole rap/rock thing, both genres go fine with me, just that some forms of rock just appeal to me more. I mean, sure I listen to some Tupac or Nas... but usually my MP3 player has Nirvana or U2 in it...

    And yeah, if a flame war breaks out, I can always ask Paige to separate those parts and throw them in the land of fruits and nuts...
     
    actualy i find that topic very disturbing sence i love rap, yet at my scOol theres no "gansta" who is friends with a skater, meaning maybe in reason closes, style that all come from the music. i say rock, pop etc... make me tired because they all sound the same to me, that what skaters maybe say about rap, i used to be Able to, i used to lisen to rock all the time but i got so bored of it (mostly 80s or 70s) i was like 9 years old wen i started lisen to rap

    Explain why you like music: Music can help bring entertainment, even to boring situations. For example, I listen to music when I'm doing my homework, and it helps the time to go by faster. It can also keep your ears busy while you're doing something that doesn't involve sound, like browsing a forum. I'm listing to music right now. (Wierd Al Yankovic to be exact.)
     
    Has anybody else heard of the group "Ninja High School"? They crack me up. The only song that I've heard by them is called "It's Alright to Fight." They're pretty much hip-hop. (At least that's what they would most likely fall under). Would this be a place to post songs (or have links to download songs)? Or is that against rules of PC?
     
    I don't think it's against the rules... the music sharing thread allows it...
