Musings on Anime Team Galaxy

I thought to post this now as the fandom will soon focus on Generation 4's villain org: Team Galaxy. Of course, it doesn't help we don't know much of them beyond the name and look of their female leader, Mars, their befriending the Professor in the game and an event involving a Legendary (I'm somewhat sure on that) -- Serebii.net hasn't dropped much hints but they have so much of the game to cover first, so I'm not worried on that. Given the anime treatments of the Team Magma/Aqua orgs, do you think the producers will attempt playing with them or not? And if so, what capacity do you think they'll go?

As you know, Team Aqua and Magma started righteously in the Hoenn arc, (including an appearance on the first AG theme, "Advance Adventure") then used sporatically as we progressed and for the finale, had no indication of the canon disbandment or any proper resolutions (say with Izumi/Homura). It's clear the producers dwindled their interest with the rival orgs with the episode spacing during the Advanced Challenge season and the lack of potential encounters/build-ups. With the lackluster Groudon/Kyorge two-parter adding insult to injury. That said, should we expect the same from the anime Team Galaxy?

Of course, it doesn't help that "Together" didn't demonstrate any images on the org, as opposed to Advanced Adventure for A/M. Now, the arc just started and we got plenty of time to handle with Mars and her crew but will the producers learn from their previous errors or repeat them? It's just a speculation thread, so if you want to talk how you think they should play with Galaxy, then, go for it.

Well I was kinda disappointed too with Team Magma and Aqua in the anime. I think in one of the episodes they mention something that Team Magma and Aqua had disbanded and when Team Rocket heard about they were taking the credit. I think the episode was The Ribbon Cup Caper where the disbandment was mention then again when in The Scheme Team when Team Rocket told Giovanni about how they disbanded Team Aqua and Magma. I guess that counts as an offical disbandment of them in the anime.

I didn't like the Groudon/Kyorge two-parter since it was really bias and then it could have been done much better.

I would like to see Team Galaxy be very active in the anime too. I really like Mars since she is a female villain and that is soemthing new. Mars seems very active in the game and really coolie as a female character. Still I don't know what their misson is? We all knew what was Magma and Aqua's misson in the game but nobody hasn't mention a thing about Galaxy except for a few things. Also from what I have seen in the Diamond and Pearl anime that Team Galaxy hasn't made an apearence. This could be a way to show us that Team Galaxy isn't going to be in the anime or maybe they are taking their time to introduce them and making a big impact.

As for the Magma/Aqua series, it was rather slow compared to the game, but on the other hand, SO WAS EVERYTHING ELSE (compare: 5 hours game vs. 3 SEASONS anime). I will give them credit, though, that they covered most of the big notes that were in R/S, and I'll give them leeway for not covering the special bits (MOST OF THEM) in Emerald because it came out after the anime had already started, but with the fact that they threw BOTH Groudon AND Kyogre in there, the battle is where my leeway ends. They could have done SO much more with that. It needed to have been based on Emerald since that is the only time where we have to face both teams (you all should be starting to realize where I'm going here). And the one big problem with the whole thing, the one thing that makes me absolutely despise what they did, the one thing that sums it all up is:

THEY DIDN'T PUT IN RAYQUAZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, come on! It was virtually NECESSARY for them to put in there for everything to work right. It was the ONLY sensible way that they could get Groudon & Kyogre both out, but NOOO...they went and took sides, making it worse than it needed to be and disappointing me to the point of almost banging my head in on a wall. Forshame, writers, forshame...

I only hope that Galaxy is pulled off better...and I wonder on which Legendary they stick in.

I didn't think I was that missed. Heh. I'll address this now: I'll work on the episode reviews when I can, if I can. I got too much on the plate first. I do want to say I don't want this to be an Aqua/Magma anime rant thread but I will make one within the weekend, since I think there is a demand for it.

I did plan a mega review of the Ribbon Cup Caper but life got in the way. Funny thing about Brody/Bannai's return appearance: why him and not someone with more appearances and thus sure to gain more audience appeal like say, Homura/Izumi? However, such things aren't going to happen. Moving on.

Well, from what Reyna said, apparently, nothing has been dropped on Galaxy's mission statement (which concerns me). So, thankfully, I'm not that out of the loop yet. Chances are we'll get the Professor befriending and the Legendary angle converted but as Reyna points out: what about Mars? Granted, she wouldn't be the first female boss of an org -- don't forget Giovanni's mother -- in the anime but she would be the first in present time and with multiple episode potential (which would triumph Onn'a Boss). However, remember, Archie and Maxie had only two episodes to them, but Mars, at least by design, has an intriguing look about her. I hope that will be explored.

Although, it should be commented on that Maxie was indeed fleshed out nicely in his brief appearances. Hm. So, any bets on the admins in the spirit of Homura/Izumi? I heard about Saturn, Venus, and that's it thus far. I won't go there with the latter end of the solar system. Heh.

Well I finally saw the episode where Brody appeared in and I can guess why he recieved a second. Most likeky it was because the writers were able to make an another episode with him since he is able to do costume changes.

I been getting most of my information from Serebii and that is all I have heard about Team Galaxy. I don't think they have mention anything about a mission statement. Well I hope that Mars makes a few good appearences since she looks so coolie. Also I hoping her admins would be used too. Maybe they can do something as in a huge mission thing like everytime Team Galaxy make an appearence they can feature an admin like Saturn.

To me Mars has a arua of greatness that the writers can use greatly in the anime.

I never been told that about my reviews before, mega or otherwise. I'll have to dust one off one of these days. Actually, I do plan to write Mars in a spectulation fic sooner or later, despite the fact I have no knowledge of her personality. Because, as you say, she's flipping great.

Anyway, from what I see, Saturn does have the most prominence in the game, so chances are he'll(?) be converted, as anime Galaxy needs a second-in-command. Especially since they actually bothered to convert Tabitha and Shelly in the anime. One possibility that would have been fun but I doubt they would have known ahead of time with Galaxy is using them for the Mossdeep Space Station episode and aptly play on their planetary theme. Not to mention all the foreshadowing goodness that would burst forth? Ah, well.

They think ahead of time, but not that much. Snaps fingers.
