Ok, i've done some searching and it appears this has never been suggested before.

I was thinking, if it was possible in the vBulletin engine, to have a tab/box where mutual friends of people could be placed.

For example, if someone posted something in a VM to you and you didn't quite know who they were, you could look and see if they're friends with any of your friends and try to establish a good friendship/acquaintanceship. I believe that this would help in bring a more friendly environment to PC.

    Thank you for your time.

...Pretty sure this is like Facebook's suggested friends feature. PC doesn't need to be more like Facebook so I doubt the staff would go for it :(

Besides, you could just go look at THEIR friends list?

I'm not saying that PC should be like Facebook, I'm saying that this would provide added convienence instead of having to go through perhaps a long list just to find someone who you're mutually friends with.

This sounds like a good idea. I might use it, since I get random VM's sometimes, and it'd be useful to know if they're my friend(s)'s friend.

I despise how any suggestion, idea, or whatever gets instantly accused of pertaining to Facebook just because it has even the slightest similarity to friends or facebook itself. We're not trying to make PC into Facebook, guys.

What's wrong with suggesting features that are like Facebook? I don't see a problem with that. After all, most of the features vBulletin has already has a Facebook equivalent feature. Everytime I see someone suggest anything, I always see an overload of replies saying "omg, this isn't a social networking site!" or "PC doesn't need to be anymore like Facebook than it already is." but would that really be a bad thing to happen? I mean, the tools are there, someone out there knows how to make this happen. Chances are, there's probably already a feature out there that can be used for this.

But seriously. You don't have to go saying "PC isn't Facebook" for a reason to decline every networking related suggestion. Maybe if PC were more like Facebook it would be more enjoyable. After all, PC stands for PokéCommunity. Wouldn't it be in our nature to increase the ability to become more like a community than be isolated in a forum-dedicated surrounding? That's what will make us unique to any other forum out there, after all. Sure, PC doesn't need to be like Facebook, but it really wouldn't damage PC in success if features like this were added. But as far as I'm concerned, if I was a new member and I was comparing PC (the way it is now) to what PC could have for socializing, I would go towards the forum representing what PC could have.

Social networking sites are no excuse to be close-minded or anti-progress. ;3
Though this idea I'm not a fan of because in my opinion you should answer messages no matter how the sender is related to you. D:

It's a viable argument because social networking sites are vastly different from what PC is. Excuse us for wishing to retain as much of PC's forum like charm as possible. :3

I personally dislike social networking sites because there's a lot of potential for privacy being violated, and the entire 'friends of friends' feature just seems too creepy for me. I have it turned entirely off on windows live, no one can see an of my other contacts, unless they're on my contacts list. Therefore I am against this suggestion 100%.

I know for a fact that checking a friends of friends list won't assist me in authenticating who someone is, or where I know them from unless they specifically mention someone, and then I don't even bother checking their friends list, I just go by how well I know and trust that person. >_>
