My Alola Post Game Theory

This may seem like a bit of a stretch, so stay with me. My theory revolves around the inclusion of Kalos in the post game. Despite what leaks have said, I really do believe (or maybe it's wishful thinking) that they will bring us back to Kalos to tie up loose ends. I also believe that, with the apparent exclusion of gyms in Alola, that letting us go back to Kalos would allow us to battle at gyms in the more traditional Pokemon way. This would also be a throwback to the GSC/HGSS days when we had a massive post game.

So here's how I think it makes sense.

Oricoro has 4 typings that most likely correspond to the Guardians typings (Fire, Electric, Ghost, Psychic).

Team Skull is rumored to use Poison and Dark type Pokemon

Kalos' gyms specialized in the following types:
-Bug
-Rock
-Fighting
-Grass
-Electric
-Fairy
-Psychic
-Ice

The Elite Four specialized in the following types:
-Fire
-Water
-Steel
-Dragon

So, given all of these Pokemon types, they would all be covered except for Ground, Normal, and Flying. I believe that a post game in Kalos would mean that 2 of the gyms (Electric and Psychic) would get replaced by one of the previously mentioned types similar to BW2. Also, with Team Flare gone, Malva and her Fire type Pokemon would get replaced in the Elite Four.

If things happen to shake out this way, then that means we basically get exposed to every single Pokemon type in the regular story and post game as a way to commemorate the anniversary of the series. Thoughts?

I honestly just feel like Game Freak wants fans to forget about Kalos as soon as possible, I mean we've had no mega evolutions revealed (which were heavily linked to Kalos) and apart from Zygarde there hasn't been much reference to anything from this region. I mean of course we could tie up the loose ends, but I don't think that's enough of an incentive to revisit Kalos.

I heavily doubt we're going to Kalos.

What are we going to do in Kalos? I see people all the time saying that we're going to "tie up loose ends", but again, if that was the case, Game Freak would've released X2 and Y2 instead of Sun & Moon... I dunno. Maybe I'm flat-out wrong about this and we'll be able to have a happy journey in Kalos, but I sincerely doubt it because it's really hard for me to imagine Game Freak shoe-horning another region in that we have literally just explored Kalos.

Zygarde feels like a bonus Pokemon at this rate that may or may not have some connection with the story. It'd be nice if it does, but Zygarde by itself doesn't really prove anything to me.

I also think that battling gyms in Kalos would make no sense at all, with all due respect. D: Like, why would we start over, just to play what we've already played in Kalos? We're essentially going through the Kalos storyline except it'd be Sun & Moon's postgame, which is essentially saying that an entire sequel to one game can be shoehorned in the postgame of another, which seems... hard to believe, to me.

I mean, I don't want to appear too overly critical, but I'm an honest skeptic when it comes to these "traveling to past regions" theories all the time, because people tend to point out whether or not we'll travel to a past region and connect some very loose dots here and there, but we end up not going there, and I truly do think that's going to be the case this generation. Again, maybe I'm wrong, and I'm more than happy to admit the such if we somehow do return to Kalos, but Alola so far seems like such a distant and removed region from the rest of the world (to the extent where Alola forms are a thing) that it'd make no sense to travel to a region with such a different culture like Kalos for the sake of fixing what should've been done in Kalos in the first place.

I agree that it probably isn't going to happen, but I thought it was a nice pipe dream haha. I just think that a lot of people were left unsatisfied with the story in XY and taking us back the same way that Gen 2 did and also incorporating gyms for those who may miss them in Alola would be a nice nod to the older games. Whatever the post game ends up being, I sincerely hope it is closer to the depth of ORAS than the lack of content in XY.

I agree with you; as long as the post-game has depth, that's all I really want. ORAS' post-game had potential and the Delta Episode was nice (despite feeling slightly rushed at certain points, I guess? Maybe I'm being nitpicky), but I was very disappointed at the reappearance of the Battle Maison which killed the rest of the post-game for me.

Here's hoping Sun & Moon's post-game won't be disappointing. I don't think it will be, anyway. u_u

I hope this as well. The battle frontier was much better. Let's hope we have that as a postgame.
