OK I just EV trained my precious new breloom (252 attack, 252 speed, 6 HP) and it is now a level 50.

Thing is I was thinking it must learn spore by now? I haven't evolved it too early or anything have I. I don't want to go through getting and EV training another one.

Well, Breloom can't learn Spore. Only Shroomish can on level 54. I don't suggest getting another one, it doesn't worth it. I think, that your Breloom has quite good stats, so it doesn't really need Spore (though it's a good move).

Well yes, I understand now. Have you already taught him Focus Punch or do you still have that TM? Because if you've taught him it already, then the whole EV training can be counted as a waste of time and a waste of a TM. Though it has Effect Spore and probably has learnt Stun Spore. Go to the Move Tutor and teach him Stun Spore. It does work, it makes the opponent unmoveable for 50% of the turns, but you have to have luck with using it since the low accuracy :/ ...

Its alright I still have the TM. I'll just train another one up. It took me ages to find an adamant shroomish too.

Really? Then I must be lucky! The first time I caught a Shroomish, it had adamant nature, lol :D :P
Although I never EV trained it...

edit: I suggest you to save the TM and trade maybe over from FR/LG (if you have one of them) a Poliwhirl/Poliwrath. It knows Hypnosis, so it can use Focus Punch much better. It can also be EV trained and it is much easier to raise, I think. It is also quite easy to find a Poliwag so it won't be so hard to get one with adamant nature...

can't you preserve the nature of your breloom by giving it everstone? give it everstone and breed it with a ditto and you should be able to get an adament shroomish.

and yes, breloom is a great pokemon. any pokemon that have good stats and can learn spore is great.

If you don't want to breed... you COULD go for Substitute or Leech Seed. Mach Punch is another choice...

Hypnosis has crap accuracy and politoed doesn't have enough attack to be a good focus puncher.

Well, it did a good enough job for me, and btw it's poliwrath, not Politoed.
Poliwrath has a quite good attack stat and can use Focus Punch for STAB.

don't those heart scales allow you to get moves you should have learned back

if so get one of those after you train your breloom to lvl 54

It only makes pokemon learn moves they have actually learned or if you were asked if you want to teach it that move and you didn't. But if you have a lv.54 Breloom, you won't be asked if you want to teach it Spore, so you won't be able to make it learn Spore with the help of the Move Tutor.
