three of those images don't show up. though the one in the spoiler I can see. the outline is too thick, and the shading is off. Look at an official sprite up close and look at how the coloring is done, as well as the outline. :)

It looks far more like a small drawing than an actual piece of pixel art.

That's true, it looks like you've been using a small brush that gives auto anti-aliasing. To have your own showcase. you'll need 4 original sprites. It's recommended that they simply be scratch pixel art. And if you plan on posting only one sprite to showcase, then you should be posting in the Spriter's Showcase thread. Don't worry, you'll get crit there too. (;
