i brought a copy of pokemon sapphire rather recently. it is the NA version, and i have, up to now, played through it three times in the past month. i want to trade my pokemon accross to diamond, and when i turned on the GBA, it came up with that message "your game has been eraised. you can still play the game" and all of my data was gone!

how can i prevent this? is it just a dud copy, or is it beacuse its an american game in a european DS?

any awnsers could be usefull. its getting tedious repeatedly training up my pokemon ><

I'm pretty sure it's because you have a pirated Sapphire game. I've heard of D/P cartridges deleting save files from pirated games so your only choice is to get a real cart, or, if possible, trade the Pokémon in your Sapphire version over to another 3rd generation cartridge.

Pirated..its just a rom chip on a game card. do you mean pirated like loading the rom itself onto a gba flash card? i dont think anyone would buy one of those, what with them no being blue.

Pirated as in it's a fake version of the game, an illegal copy. Real, Nintendo approved cartridges do not get their save files erased like that. And if the cartridge is real and still has the save file erasing problem, the thread starter should send it to Nintendo and get it replaced with a properly working one, which I believe is free. If it's pirated, he's just wasted your money, I'm afraid.

And for the thread starter, where did you get your Sapphire game?

well he has money to throw at the first copy he bought. i think only the thread starter can make that judgment.

Just so you know, the same thing happened to me. I bought my version of Fire Red on Ebay way back when I was stupid :) I got a bootlegged copy or whatever and everytime I went to play my game it was erased. I do know a guy now on Ebay who you can trust and he offers 100% money back guarantee. He has every version of the game and he sells them in packs too if you want. I just got Fire Red and Emerald for 60$.
