Well guys, I'm finally done here.
I really just can't take things anymore. I apologise for the length of this thread, but i would appreciate people reading this as i have explained everything that both myself and many staff have been through. This should hopefully help you all to understand us more and be more positive about us and the work we have done. I hope that you will be more trusting and happy with the remaining staff from now on, i really do.
What myself and other staff go through
I've always tried to do my job as best i can -my main goal around PC has been to treat all members equally and protect the younger members by trying to maintain a positive environment. I've also always fought for democracy among the admins (the system used to be that the site admins could basically do what they wanted ^^; more recently it's become a proper democracy thanks to a new agreement) and stuck up for the staff admins..i fight so hard for democracy, yet people still complain about PC being a dictatorship..if you think PC's a dictatorship then you really haven't experienced what it could truly be like, where people ban and promote whoever and whenever they feel like it without discussion or reason, and constant fighting for power occurs within the admins..we don't have that at all -there's a team that makes these decisions -they're called the staff..
Within my position, yes i have had to assist in decisions regarding bans and demotions, but that's all part of what i had to do. As i saw it, if people are willing to go against the rules or be incredibly negative about PC, and don't stop despite a warning to, then they're taking responsibility for any bannings/demotions that may happen. I don't take it to a personal level, hence my aim to always be fair, however this is not true for all members..
Some of those whose i have had to ban or demote previously in joint decisions with the other staff have reduced things to a personal attack against me, as if i went out on a vengeance against them when all i really wanted was to keep the forum positive and treat everyone fairly without creating exceptions.
When i first became an admin there were already a little group of people who wanted to get me demoted, despite having made my way up all but one of the ranks (pretty rare for site admins), and despite me not even knowing a lot of them..i mean how can you hate someone you haven't even spoken to?
Some of you may remember one member's attack against me where he'd been previously demoted due to him caring more about his post count than his mod duties and began spamming. We jointly decided on a demotion, yet he decided to create about 30+ threads calling me a 'female dog' (shall we say to avoid swearing) to all the normal members..
There have also been members who yes i've had to make decisions about, but that i've been perfectly friendly (and even helpful) to outside of PC (after all, i see my position on PC only being applicable to PC), but who have then stabbed me in the back by saying really negative things about me to other people just because of a decision i had to make about a forum..being online makes it easier for people to switch personalities and i hate not even knowing who i can and cannot trust ._.
Just recently with a demotion (which had valid reasons) it was taken so low as for them to consider launching a personal attack on not just me but also my relationship..it surprises me that people will take an action that is part of someone's job and turn it into the consideration of such a spiteful personal attack.
My job unfortunately does require me to make sure that the staff are doing their jobs and that the members are behaving, yet i'm attacked for doing what i'm supposed to and on a really personal level..i really can't take it anymore. It does hurt to see that these things happen, and i'm really not that strong a person..
The reason that we keep quiet about things that go on in the mod lounge and HQ isn't because we want power or something sad like that, it's just because we respect the privacy of such things as demotions and bans between the staff and the person that it has happened to. We just want you guys to be happy without having to deal with the hassle of getting involved in every process that we go through -that's the point of having us around ^^; it's just such a shame that people are more willing to listen to rumours started by negative members than trust the very staff that are present when the decisions are made ._.
It's such a shame in my eyes that when members are satisfied with the work we are doing we hear nothing from them (and it is a lot of work -making sure we abide by the rules, responding to all reports, dealing with banning, promotions, demotions, making forum decisions), yet when they don't like something they're more than happy to gang up with others and decide that they officially 'hate the staff'..it really does kill your morale after a while :/
My position now is 'why should i help out and put so much care into a forum when so many members are so negative about the work myself and other staff do'..i've gone from really enjoying my job to just wondering when the next negative outburst will be..positive outbursts are unfortunately unheard of ._.
To the admins
Kwesi -we don't know each other particularly well, but i appreciate that you've created/agreed to the new agreement, and i respect how open you are to other people's opinions. Thank you for letting me help PC :3
Steve -we haven't always seen eye to eye since you did take the opinion of wanting to do what you wanted when you wanted, but i really hope that this new agreement will encourage you to really open up to all that the other higher staff have to offer -they really do have extensive knowledge of the in-depth working of PC at a member-level, so their opinions really are vital in everything. I do thank you, though, for letting me help PC and i'm sure everyone appreciates all the effort you've had to put in regarding the server(s). I hope that we will remain affiliates for a long time to come as i do respect the work that you put into your site.
Bunny -i know you're not an admin, but i'm going to treat you as one X3; i'm happy that we had a good friendship here on PC and i hope things go well for you. There have always been some factors that don't quite add up with you, but on the surface you're a nice guy :3 true, you have had your passionate moments, but you're getting better and better at your job and i hope to see you at admin some time soon :3 you deserve it
Erica -i've always respected how relaxed and on-balance you remain in all decisions -you're the calm voice that we all need in HQ, that's for sure X3 You're a vital part of PC and you work hard to maintain the peace. You deserve a lot of admiration for that..but then again you do have your own religion for that X3;
Andy -what can i say, really, you're part of what makes PC PC :3 you've had to go through a lot from many members, and i'm glad that you've stayed strong throughout where many other people would have given up and gone on an all-out censored outrage X3
Jake -i think that you do tend to type as you're thinking, rather than really judge what your thoughts are about -you jump the mark so to say without thinking of the consequences which are pretty big since you're an admin. You tend to come across as very arrogant because of this ^^; On the good side, i know that you do mean well and i hope that you'll learn to control yourself more :3
To my friends
First and foremost...*huggles* X3
I really appreciate getting to know you all on PC, and you're what made PC so enjoyable for me. You reminded me what i was doing my job for and i'm grateful for it. I may still drop by now and then, i haven't yet decided.
Most especially, thanks to all the fans/supporters of mine and craig(dawson)'s relationship X3 it's nice to know others think it's cute XD
