3rd Gen My Trapinch ain't workin'! XD

    OK, I've been going Latios-hunting in my Ruby, and I've got me a nice lil' Trapinch to stop the dude running away... BUT, every time I find Latios, even sending out Trappy first, it flees! Any reason for this?
     
    because not all trapinch have the same ability like others
     
    Because Trapinch's ability won't work on flying Pokemon or Pokemon with Levitate as ability.
    Wobbuffet is your friend, use him.
    For more fun, try catch him with PokeBall.(I get Latios by PokeBall, but same file were deleted. -_-)
     
    Your Trapinch may have Hyper Cutter instead of Arena Trap - and even when it has Arena Trap, Levitate means ot won't work. Lv100 Shedinja is your friend with false swipe! Either that or Wobbuffet. :D
     
    Well, like members have said above. Trapinch's ability is invalid against flying Pokemon, or with Pokemon of the levitate ability. Also, it is true that not all Trapinch have the same ability. This is true for other Pokemon as well.

    Wobbuffet's Shadow Tag work on all Pokemon.
    No Pokemon can escape, except you switch out Pokemon.
     
    or you could get another game in which you can give pokemon items, get to the oint where you get the master ball, and trade it on a pokemon to ruby/saphire, tthen just toss it at it when you see it.
     
    You could do what I did breed a Dusclops with a Gardevoir so you can have a Gardevoir that knows Mean Look and Hypnosis.
     
    Well, the easiest way to win is Wobbuffet + Shedinja. Send out Wobbuffet, then switch to Shedinja. All the attacks Latios throws at you won't affect Shedinja, so you're free to False Swipe away (evolve it at Lv25 so Nincada learns it), and hopefully catch it ^_^
