My fanfiction is based on Naruto (if you didn't figure that out yet :P) It's depicts Minato Namikaze's (4th Hokage) life as a shinobi. That's mainly why it's called Naruto Yondaime. This story starts when Minato is 10 years old and is about to graduate from the academy. So, enjoy :)

    Chapter 1

Minato Namikaze, a gifted youth of the Hidden Leaf Academy, has perfected every single jutsu they taught him, and even improved some of them. He even invents his own jutsu, without too much success at the moment.

In an old shack near his house, Minato lifted his hand, and chakra started gathering in it. However, the chakra began to run freely, he couldn't contain it, resulting in a tiny explosion, making him fall down with his back against the wall. He stood up, lifted his hand again, swiftly turned around, and threw a kunai at the wooden door. The door opened and someone entered.

    "How'd you know?"
Moshi asked as he entered and closed the door behind him.
"I always know, Moshi...and the more you keep spying on me, the longer it'll take before i can get this to work." Minato replied somewhat agitated.
"C'mon, you two! We'll be late if we don't hurry!" Imari yelled from outside the wooden shack.

The two boys left the shack and met up with Imari. The three of them now ran towards the academy.

"You know, i like punctuallity, but this is overdoing it!"
Rika said as the three walked in and took their seats.
"What? We're still on time aren't we?" Moshi replied, feeling he outsmarted Rika.
"...Minato, you can go straight to the next classroom for the exam." Rika said as she tried to ignore Moshi's statement.

Minato walked into the exam room, and suddenly looked up when he saw who was judging the exams. It was Fugaku Uchiha, who always pestered Minato about his skills. Minato feared he wouldn't let him pass because of that.

"So they let a 14-year old judge the exams?" Minato asked, slightly mocking Fugaku.
"Age doesn't matter, any Chunin can judge the exams. Now let's get one thing straight, if it were up to me, you'd fail these exams. Unfortunatly---" Fugaku explained while being interrupted.
"Unfortunatly, i'll be judging you as well." Teyaki said as he walked in.
"And i'll be judging Fugaku too." Teyaki continued while looking at Fugaku.

Teyaki is Fugaku's older brother, and knows about Fugaku's attempts to break Minato. Even though Fugaku is a respected Chunin, he is often teamed up with Teyaki on missions and other Shinobi-activities because of his hatred for Minato.

"Allright, you'll be doing the transformation jutsu. If you can succesfully transform into either me or Teyaki, you pass." Fugaku explained.

Minato nodded and performed the needed hand seals. However, Minato's combination seemed different from the regular transformation jutsu. Suddenly, the half of the room filled with smoke. As the smoke cleared, there were three Fugaku's and three Teyaki's standing in Minato's stead.

"Now why don't you tell me who the real me is?" one of the clones taunted while looking at Fugaku, once again showing off. Fugaku however, looked at the clones with a stern look on his face.

"You failed to follow my orders to merely transform, therefore, you---"
    Fugaku tried to say.
"--Pass!" Teyaki stated, continueing Fugaku's sentence, and handed Minato a leaf headband.

Minato took the headband and put it on his head. Afterwards he gently bowed infront of Teyaki as a small sign of gratitude and left the exam room.

"What was that all about?" Fugaku asked annoyed.
"I told him to transform, and he---" Fugaku continued.
"He showed far greater skill than a mere transformation jutsu. I know how you feel about him, but this isn't about you, Fugaku. Minato is exceptionally skilled, and he deserves to be a shinobi." Teyaki lectured.
"I was exceptionally skilled, you remember that?" Fugaku asked, trying to prove his point.
"During your exam, you were told to do a clone jutsu, and you did a fire jutsu instead. And you only became a shinobi that day because I convinced my fellow judge to let you pass!" Teyaki explained with a slightly raised voice.

Fugaku looked down in slight embarrasment, he knew Teyaki was right about that. He didn't want to argue anymore and signalled for the next student to enter.

After a few hours, the exams were over and a majority of the students passed, including Moshi and Imari. The students were given the rest of the day off and most of them spent their afternoon at Ichiraku's ramen shop. The main discussion there was more or less about Minato's experience during the exam. During this time, Teyaki delivered the results of the exam to Sarutobi.

    "So, 24 students passed..."
    Sarutobi pondered.
"What about Minato? Do we have a Jonin capable enough to instruct him?" Teyaki asked.
"Minato may be talented, but there are far more powerful ninja's out there. Don't overrate him, Teyaki." Sarutobi said.
"And actually, i have the perfect squad leader for him and his two companions." he continued.

    Chapter 2

"We were supposed to meet the guy out here?" Imari asked in slight disbelief.
"That's what they told me..." Minato confirmed.
"Are you sure it was training ground 5? There's alot of training grounds you know." Moshi stated.

At that moment, someone swiftly passed the three, leaving a small gust of wind behind. Just as they opened their eyes again, they noticed a man standing in front of them, holding three headbands. Minato, Moshi and Imari all noticed that their own headbands were missing.

"So i'm supposed to teach you three? You're hardly even worth it if you didnt see me coming!" The man said from afar.
"If you wanna be a shinobi, then prove it by getting these back!" he continued, and swiftly dissapeared again.

    "What the...?" Moshi stuttered.
"You think he's our Jonin leader?" Imari asked.
"I don't know, if he had any kind of decency, he'd introduce himself first...anyway, i'm gonna get my headband back!" Minato stated and headed into the forest.
"You guys should split up too!" Minato yelled from afar as he dissapeared into the bushes

Minato took it sort of easy, sneaking through the bushes while searching. Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder and turned around.

"Not very quiet even when sneaking huh?" the mysterious man said. He bent over slightly, resting his hands on his knees while taunting Minato.
"Maybe i'm not very quiet, but how do you know you got the real one?" Minato smiled back. The man suddenly heard some grass rustling behind him, and quickly turned his head.
"Thousand years of Death!" Minato yelled as he came up behind the man and stabbed him in a quite painful place, using his fingers. The man yelled in pain as he flew far above the trees, dropping one of the headbands. Minato picked it up and put it on his head again. He now tried to find the place where the thief landed.

As Minato moved closer, he bumped into Moshi.

"Minato! You found him?" Moshi asked curiously when he saw the headband.
"I did, and he'll think twice before stealing from me again." Minato boasted proudly.
"So where's the other two?" Moshi asked again.
"He still has them, as far as i know. Let's team up for now." Minato suggested.

Meanwhile, Imari found the man laying half-unconcsious on the ground. She noticed two headbands and picked one of them up. Just then, the man woke up as well, making Imari jump back. Both of them looked at eachother. While Imari looked rather mad, the man looked calm and controlled. Imari dashed towards him attempting a taijutsu attack, but was stopped by her opponent. He could simply place his hand on her forehead, which stopped her attack. She comically tried to punch him, but hit nothing but air. At that moment, Moshi leaped out into the clearing, unleashing hundreds of shuriken. Just before they hit, Minato dove in from the left and grabbed Imari so she wouldnt be hit.

    "Wild lion's mane jutsu!"
the man exclaimed as suddenly his bright white hair began to grow, covering his entire body.
The shuriken bounced of the shield of hair and flew in multiple directions. The shuriken hit both Imari and Moshi, but Minato managed to avoid them. Minato became nervous, as it seemed they wouldnt be able to defeat this opponent. He realized he could try one more thing.

Minato raised his hand as chakra started gathering in it, making some sort of a blue swirling sphere of pure chakra. He realized that once again, he couldnt control it. Minato swiftly ran towards the man with the sphere of chakra in hand, but the force of it almost made Minato lose balance.

    "Rasengan!"
Minato yelled, and just before it hit, the sphere exploded again, like it did many times before. Minato flew back, landing on the edge of a lake, while the mysterious man flew into a tree. It didn't cause much damage, as the man could stand up again almost immediatly. He wiped the dust off his clothes and tossed the last headband in Moshi's direction.

"Ok, that's about enough, you three!" The man yelled.
    "You pass!" He continued.
"What do you mean, we passed?" Minato said as he stood up.
"My name's Jiraiya, i'm your squad leader." He said.
"The graduation exams consist of two parts. The first part, is using a perfected E-rank jutsu. The second part, is a test, and there's only a chance of 32% to pass it, as only nine of the graduated students can become Genin. Those who failed this test get sent back to the academy." Jiraiya explained.
"Why didn't you tell us about this before?" Moshi asked annoyed.
"Because during actual missions, your enemies won't warn you either." Jiraiya stated.

    "Hey i know you!"
    Imari claimed
"Huh?" Minato and Moshi both said.
"Yeah, they caught him peeking in the hot springs this morning!" Imari stated.
"Heh...hehe...I...i..." Jiraiya stuttered and cleared his throat.
"Why don't you guys just introduce yourselves?" Jiraiya suggested, trying to change the subject.

Meanwhile, back in the village, Sarutobi observed the entire event from a glass orb.

"Heh, i expected nothing less from Minato" Sarutobi thought.
"Teyaki, prepare the documents for squads 4, 5, and 6!" He commanded.
