Hey guys, I'm trying to farm a shiny Charmander since I wanna get the black Charizard. Can I have some advice on what methods to use? I'm playing Pokemon FR/LG.

3rd Gen Need help breeding/farming Shiny Charmander!

Unfortunately, there aren't really any in-game tricks that were included to increase the likelihood of finding a shiny until later generations, so your best bet may be to soft reset prior to selecting your starter.
If you're willing to put in the time and research though, you could always try RNG manipulation as a way to get shiny Pokemon (a guide on that can be found here). To my knowledge, trying this method in FR/LG isn't as easy as some other games, but it might save you the frustration of relying on luck, when you'd normally have a 1/8192 chance of getting a shiny Charmander.
