Ok, I need help in emerald, for the third gym. I can never get through magneton a.k.a the great wall of Wattson. I kill voltorb and electrikte easily, but magneton resists every move I use. I slowly bring down it's HP, then Wattson uses his super potions, and he never uses them on his previous two. Once got through magneton, but i had only one pokemon with 16 HP left, so manectric had an easy kill. I don't know where to get any ground type at this stage, or fire or fighting. My team consists of a lv.27 Grovyle, lv.21 Kirlia, lv.15 Wingull, lv.22 Swellow, lv.10 Zigzagoon(HM slave) and a lv.12 electrike. Most of the pokemon are just tempory fillers, so I don't bother training them. How can I defeat him !?

Oh, and will this team do for the elite four when I reach there?:

    Sceptile
    Gardevoir
    Swellow
    Flygon
<Any good fire type here, please suggest>
    Milotic

For the time being, you can do any of the following (I've listed them in order from best to worst):

-Backtrack to Granite Cave (where you delivered the letter to Steven) and capture a Geodude, which you'll proceed to training, until its level is in about the 20's range (maybe even less)
-Go to the same place, but catch a Makuhita instead, and train it until it evolves (at Lv24), or until it learns a good fighting move
-Buy some Harbor Mail in Slateport city, and give it to the girl in the first house you see upon returning to Mauville City. She'll give you a Coin Case, and you'll try to rack up 4000 coins, which you'll then use to buy TM35 (Flamethrower). Now that you have the TM, find someone who can use it, train them a bit, and send that Magneton to the afterlife!

I think that should cover all three of Magneton's elemental weaknesses, and I hope it helps.

You could return to Slateport City. Mr Briney should still be able to boat you back to Dewford, for your Geodude. Geodude's Magnitude (Level 15/16) helped me when I did an early days run with Treecko.

    Try: Elite 4

~Sceptile: Leaf Blade, Toxic, and Detect. For a fourth move, Dragon Claw or Return should work.

~Swellow: Endeavor, Facade, Aerial Ace. For the fourth move, Double Team is great in Battle Tower, Quick Attack can work with Endeavor, Steel Wing if you want.

NOTE: Swellow's amazing speed, and Endeavor, makes an awesome choice when going for the Legendary captures. Hitting Sharpedo before hand will weaken your Swellow (which with Endeavor, is a good thing).

~Gardevoir: Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Psychic. Fourth move Hypnosis, unless you want an Element Punch. Reflect can help weaken the enemy Ghost attacks of Phoebe. And Psychic did more damage than a Shadow Ball, from what I noticed...

~Heracross: Megahorn, Brick Break. Facade if Gutsy. Swords Dance is a GBA Move Tutor, and useful. Earthquake, maybe Rock Tomb.
    --------------------
    HM Slaves:

~Tropius: Fly, Rock Smash, Strength, Flash
~Tentacool / Tentacruel: Cut, Surf, Dive, Waterfall
~Smeargle: Fly, Surf, Rock Smash, Dive

Noticed those "reporters"? Smeargle can target YOUR own choice partner in a Double Battle with its signature Sketch. This allows you, the player, to customise your Smeargle to become your HM Slave. You can have Dig if you wish (NinCADA & Trapinch, high level up).

Exactly where in the granite cave can you get geodude? I'm there right now, and where can one get it there?

Hmm... I don't bother raising other Pokemon except my Treecko until I get a Rayquaza. I am telling you, Forget about raising other Pokemon, Just train your starter and that it. And when You get an Exp. Share, Catch a Numel of lv.21 - 23 at Mt. Chimney and give EXP. share to numel until you fight tate and liza (the 2nd last Gym leaders of the game because they Double-battle). Foeget about those ralts, or whatsoevers. Just raise your starter.

That's how I play every game and I NEVER GET STUCK IN ANY PART OF THE GAME. Emerald's just TOO EASY of a game. I've played it 12 times from the start to the end (cuz' sometimes the game gets deleted.)

    I gotcha! I got stuck there and I had a Lvl 27 Grovyle and a Lv25 Kirlia.

Train Kirlia until it gets Psychic or train Grovyle till it gets Leaf Blade. Much easier after that.

Charizard EX, that's actually slightly stupid.
What's the fun with one Pokemon? I mean, if it was Beautifly, great, but it's your awesome starter!
If you actually want to just race to the Battle Frontier, go with Gardevoir and and your starter. Only those two. Sweep everything and anything.

All you need is a ground type. The only ground types you can obtain up to this point without trading / hacking is Marshtomp, Swampert, Nincada, Geodude, and Graveler.

You can find Geodude in the Granite Cave Basement 2.
If you can't find them, Geodude is also located in Routes 111 and 114. They're fairly common.

Fire-types in R/S/E are few and far between, and at the point you're at, you won't be able to really get any. If you want one later, I'd suggest Ninetales as the best way to go, since it has the best stats out of the few that are available. I've actually grown a little fond of Camerupt as well, after not liking it at first, but keep in mind that it is slow.

I got past him by first owning his first guys with Blaziken, then switch to Plusle(above Slateport, rare in one version, common in another, don't know which is common in Emerald, but Minun is almost the same, except that it is Blue!) for Voltorb, because of Selfdestruct. Then i switched back to Blaziken and kept owning! I remember i finished him with a Crit...
