Need help with Pokemon Yellow Gameboy color

Hello :classic:

I have just started playing pokemon yellow on Gameboy Color and need some tips on how to 1 - break the switch code thingy to get through to Lt Surge, and 2 - some tips to defeat him? I have defeated him on the Red Version, infact I have got to the last of the Elite Four on the red version but lost my red version, so bought a yellow version :embarrass I have forgotten how to do everythin :embarrass I may need more help later on *giggles*

The switches are random. However, the best thing to get past the switches, I've found, is to find the first one. Then save. If you hit the wrong switch, turn it off and then back on. Keep trying until you find the right one. Or you could do it the long way, and just keep looking... XD Either or, the 2nd switch is next to the first one.

For Lt. Surge, get some ground or rock Pokemon. They won't be harmed by Raichu. A Geodude would work nicely, or you can go to the Diglett tunnel to the right and grab a Diglett. I do believe that some of them have Dig on them once they're a high enough level (or at least I think so, it's been forever @_@).
If all else fails, you can try using Pikachu, since it'd be 1/2 damage, but it won't work as well as a rock or ground Pokemon. *shrug*

I hope that helps some. I'm not the best at the games, but I do know quite a bit about how to get though the game, especially the older games. They're easier to play. ^^;
