4th Gen need help

well I have 6 badges....my main pokemon are.....42 Golduck, 41 Haunter, 42 Infernape and I just got an egg and hatched it it was Riolu, dont know if I will keep him or not but please suggest what other pokemon I can catch and add into my list

I would get a Misdreavus...Well, actually if depends which version you have. If you have Diamond then nevermind, 'cause you can't get Misdreavus in Diamond.

Anyway, just throw in whatever overlevelled starter you've had since the beginning of the game.

A Luxray will help you through the game, its a good electric poke. Also try to add a good Grass pokemon to your team.

Luxray is good, also get a Kadabra from GTS (it will involve in a mighty Alakazam)

You didn't even beaten the Elite 4 so, make your team of any pokes you can, and diversify your type to cover the most...
As Anti once said... Even a Magikarp can pass through the main story...

Agreed. Brave Bird + Close Combat = Ownage to everything ever. Not to mention it can be your Fly-slave throughout the entire game.

Forget Riolu, Infernape covers your fighting side.

Grass type is a need. As much as it is a pain to train Roselia to a decent level and Shiny Stone it, it's really worth it. A good thunder attack or thunder pokemon such as Luxray or Magnemite (which can evolve in Magnezone, a very helpful Pokemon) will help you with the Elite 4.

I also reccomend Gengar, HIGHLY. Trade your Haunter and get Gengar from the trade effect.

Garchomp is Garchomp so if you need a good all around fighter, he's your best bet.

A Grass type isn't really necessary. All you need is a Poke with a Grass move. As for Garchomp and Gengar, YES. Do it.
