Hey guys. I'm currently planning my team that I will take through Sapphire, and battle tower. Unfortunately, I won't have any human competition... but I still want a strong team. I can import from G/S/C/, have a Ruby to trade with, and am willing to spend plenty of time breeding to get a specific move or HP type; so my options are pretty expansive. Since I can trade with ruby, I can also get two of each TM. So here is my current setup, and I want to keep all of the pokemon except, maybe, Aggron. Oh, and I haven't decided what items to use... so any suggestions for that would help as well. Here goes.

    Salamence -
    Aerial Ace
    Earthquake
    Dragon Dance
    Rest

    Sceptile -
    Leaf Blade
    Hidden Power (Ice)
    Crunch
    Giga Drain

    Typhlosion -
    Flamethrower
    Sunny Day
    Hidden Power (Ice)
    Overheat

    Gengar -
    Thunderbolt
    Destiny Bond
    Psychic
    Will-O-Wisp

    Swampert -
    Earthquake
    Surf
    Curse
    Brick Break

    Aggron -
    Brick Break
    Double Edge
    Earthquake
    Toxic

    Salamence - Liechi Berry
    Aerial Ace
    Earthquake
    Dragon Dance
    Brick Break
    *Basic Physical Salamence

    Sceptile - Petaya Berry
    Leaf Blade
    Hidden Power (Ice)
    Crunch
    Leech Seed
    *Sp. Sweeper

    Typhlosion - Liechi Berry
    Earthquake
    Aerial Ace
    Brick Break
    Overheat
*I miss the G/S/C Endure-Reversal Typlosion so much...

    Gengar - Petaya Berry
    Thunderbolt
    Giga Drain
    Psychic
    Will-O-Wisp
    *Another Sp. Sweeper

    Swampert - Leftovers/Chesto Berry
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide/HP Rock/Rest/Ice Beam
    Curse
    Brick Break
*Earthquake covers all that Surf covers

    Aggron -
    Brick Break
    Double Edge
    Earthquake
    Roar
    *That guy is horrible...

Lol your team is pretty good the way it is but it COULD use some improvement but i like it :)

I didn't think ground got an advantage against fire, does it? As for Aggron, what type of Pokemon would be a suitable replacement? I could probably find a pokemon I like of pretty much any type or template (hazer, tank, blah blah.)
Thanks for the advice, and any more is much appreciated!

Salamence- switch rest for a fire attack for anti-Skarmory purposes... when you dragon danced up, you shouldn't be resting to give ice beamers a chance to shoot down Salamence. Use lum berry to protect your attack power from Will o Wisp, and your speed from paralysis

Sceptile- it works I guess... but be sure to boost sp.attack as much as you can then. (lol but i'm still biased for my own Sceptile). Since you're not made to be endurable, lum berry again (as you'll be OHKO very easily, too fast for leftovers or berries to activate)

Typlosion- HP Ice isn't the sweetest... give it a physical move like earthquake so you're not so Blissey vulnerable. Also consider quick attack to kill off endure abusers. I'll personally give leftovers or lum berry.

Gengar- it's standard. lum berry again to kill off other fast status inducers or heal from a will o wisp sychronize

Swampert- nope... surf kills Skarmory. Quake does not. Keep the surf/quake together. I'll personally use leftovers since you're trying to be endurable.

Aggron- change toxic to roar so you have a pseudohazer

It can need a bit of improvement, but I think that it's the best it can be since you've never played another human player before (and therefore do not realize that heavy Blissey/Skarmory abuse out there.) Try to download netbattle and play with others across the internet.

Thank you, Frostweaver, I'll have to check out that "Netbattle", it sounds interesting.
As for my team, I will take your advice and make the suggested changes; but here is what I am wondering about.

For Sceptile, I was trying to take advantage of his fairly good special attack to make him a straight up special sweeper (with Giga Drain in there for quick healing), but if there is a role/set that would better suit him I'm all ears.
I am also wondering if my team could use more variety in terms of roles, since it is made up of almost entirely sweepers; mostly because I have not experienced Human battling before and so cannot fully appreciate the use of other "templates" (I will try to get that Netbattle and a bit of experience with it, though.) I was considering a Baton Passer (Mawile, though his lackluster stats made me worry about his ability to survive long enough to pass) and a hazer (perhaps Crobat), but ultimately decided upon this group because...well...I liked them more. If it would really help to add a specific role to my group, and none of the Pokemon I chose can effectively fill it, I could find a replacement.
Lastly, do I need to get an Ice Beam in there somewhere?

Scizor is another good baton passer. It's UU compare to the all time Ninjask, and it's not as helpless against a hazer in comparison to Ninjask (though Ninjask is a LOT better at baton passing). It can swords dance up for itself, while Ninjask must pass it on pretty much.

I personally use Sceptile with a highly risky set...

    Sceptile- [speed + / sp.atk -] @ leftovers
    EV: Speed max, defensive stats
    -leech seed
    -protect
    -substitute
    -focus punch

I'll let you judge if it works or not. It's an excellent anti-Blissey weapon. However, it's more than helpess against Pokemon taht's faster than Sceptile, and can't fight any other grass type because all i have will be focus punch then (which is unreliable at times). Ludicolo can mess it over easily, but it can win games in other situations too.

I personally prefer a hazer that's endurable. For example, a Snorlax cursed 2 times and defeated one of your Pokemon. You send out Crobat who's your hazer. You do remember that you have to endure that return too after you haze. The curse maybe gone, but it's still very powerful. Crobat is a lot better as a jolly sweeper.

    I on my team used Vaporeon. It has excellent defenses, can self/team heal with wish and it can ice beam ^_^;

Mauwile, one of the rare pokemon that can Pass Attack and Defense with a bunch of bad stats...

    Mauwile@Focus band
    Swords Dance
    Iron Defense
    Baton Pass
    Brick Break

Scizor has tons to pass... iron defense, agility AND swords dance. It's the only one besides Smeragle who has so much different choices in terms of baton passing. Gorebyss can pass the same amount of stuff except swords dance is amnesia.
