This is a message I sent after hearing about the poke heroes co-op team and after reading the thread "Definition and reason for hacked pokemon?" I hope a middle ground can be found.
Hi my name is John and I am a 24 year old video game fan. I am also a student at the University of Florida and I work as a Lieutenant Supervisor of security. I bring up the later for a point. I do not feel that the administrators moderate in a fair and even way. I am not here to defend the actions that others have taken. However, I feel that the actions taken are extreme in some situations. In my line of work, we enforce several policy's and rules, many of which may appear to be common sense. Often these rules are broken or bent. It is our job to make sure that everyone obeys these rules. Now with my job I can have several people detained for long lengths of time. I can even have the police arrest many more on misdemeanor charges, but I am not here to make my facility a gestapo camp or make our visitors feel as if they live under martial law in our facility. I feel that the administrators here are doing just that. For example, there was a thread created to discuss the legitimacy of hacked pokemon. This thread could be used by the administrators as a way of communicating the negative aspect of cheating and its affects on the value of the game and collecting, something other than a rule or a sticky note to advise that its taboo. However, the thread was closed, I feel, pre-maturely. When the discussion shifted about an earlier thread being closed, the administrator insulted the individual who was posting and closed the thread deeming it to be irrelevant. The fact is that it is relevant and the administrator was unfair. Let's say you go into a Wendy's and order a salad. If the person taking your order responded that you were an idiot because they don't carry salads, they carry side salads and that you should learn your fast food before you ordered. You would probably be upset and that individual would be disciplined. This entire community is about coming together for fun and it is the responsibility, not the policing duty, of the administrators to ensure that the forums are fair and fun. Enforce policy with ample and fair warnings. Mediate your concerns with problematic users before pulling the plug on there thread. Simple easy humane courtesies that our parents tried to instill in us. Something a 19 or 13 year old should know. With that I am submitting this message to as many administrators as possible, including a post for the community to read even though I do not believe it will be up long. additionally, I will not return to this forum as I do not agree with its practices and I feel that feeling may be mutual after this rant. Thank you for your time, John
