    Hey guys!

I need some advice as to which starters I choose.

I love both Froakie and Squirtle, but I don't want to choose both Water pokemon...

Also, I don't like any of the other new starters as much as Froakie so I'm wondering if I should take Froakie and Charmander to have different types.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I think that you should choose Froakie. Whilst Squirtle is amazing, you should experience the new starters in their new game.

I'll be choosing a Kanto starter of course, but I'll probably leave it in my box until post-game simple because I want to use and experience all of the new Pokémon. Also, if you are going to use the starters in your team then I think you should choose Bulbasaur as your starter, that way you Froakie (Water), Bulbasaur (Grass) and then the event Torchic (Fire). :)

You do realize you don't have to use the Kanto starters right? Or even the Kalos for a matter of fact.

I think he's/she's aware of that fact, but I think it's pretty clear that he/she wants to use a starter in his/her team. Hence the question of the topic.

If this is just for in-game play, then it's okay to use two Pokémon of the same type. It wouldn't affect the outcome of your gameplay in any way. I've always felt that when you use the Pokémon you like, you enjoy playing the game more. However, if you're still worried about it and you're adamant about sticking with Froakie as your Kalos starter, then Charmander wouldn't be a bad choice at all. There's always the other option of using the Speed Boost Torchic that will be available over Wi-Fi starting on October 12th till January 15th.

If you'd like to continue discussing your preferred starter choice, then feel free to discuss the Kalos starters here and the Kanto starters in this thread here.
