New Pokemon player :) Help with games!

Hi

So I'm new to all this, I recently bought Pokemon Moon and a DS to see what the fuss is all about and I'm suddenly addicted to catching Pokemon. It's the first Pokemon game I've ever played and I'm realising there's a whole lot going on here that I don't have a clue about.

I've been googling lots of stuff but it's information overload and a lot of sites I've visited speak in riddles and assume I've played the game for years, so I'm wondering if anybody has any good resources for starters, like proper basics.

I would like to understand things like these perfect IV's I keep reading about. And also the Pokemon bank, as I understand it I can't catch all 700+ Pokemon in Moon alone but Pokemon from previous games I can catch and carry over, which game should I play play to attempt a complete Pokedex? I've heard Ruby/Sapphire/Omega come up a lot, is that the way to go?

Also does Pokemon Sun/Moon get any more difficult? I evolved Rowlett in to Dartrix and I pretty much one shot every battle I'm in.

Sorry if these things have been asked before or if I'm posting on the wrong forum, it's late and I'm off to sleep. I'm hoping to have some good info for the morning when I wake up so I can get on and learn the game, things like what games I should buy, how to learn and how to get a good Pokedex, and more info on this bank thing. Thanks in advance for any advice :)

If you want a complete Pokedex, you can't go wrong with X/Y and OR/AS, because you can get every single Pokemon between them. After you get certain Pokemon you want but you can't get in Moon, you can use Pokebank to send them down into Moon. Unfortunately, because there's no National Pokedex in S/M, you won't be able to read any of the dex entries from the game itself.

As for perfect IVs, and for that matter, natures, it's only really important if you want to get into competitive, because it's not important for the in-game. They're basically the Pokemon equivalent of genes, and when two Pokemon breed, then they can pass them down. Each stat has an IV assigned to it, and it can range from 0 to 31, and at level 100, the number of the IV is added to the stat total. For example, a Tyranitar with 0 HP IVs will have 310 HP at level 100, but with 31 IVs, it will have 341 HP. As for natures, they increase a Pokemon's stat while decreasing another. For example, Adamant increases the Attack stat, while decreasing the Special Attack stat.
