*New Title Under Construction...*

Thanks for the comments. ^.^ I finally got the next chapter ready. Terriably sorry it took so long. First I went to camp, and then I got grounded, but I'm getting left at home alone kinda often, so I should be able to get up 13 fairly soon. Again sorry for the delay.

Chapter 12

I stopped running, my legs feeling like jelly, and my lungs on fire. We were about five miles away from that building, and hadn?t stopped running yet.

?Please Desire. Just a little further,? begged Miracle, helping me back to my feet.

?Miracle, we have been traveling for miles, and I can?t keep going at this rate. Please let me stop,? I moaned.

?We can?t stop unless we hide, and there isn?t anywhere to hide in a field like this,? he said while looking around at the vast emptiness. ?At least keep up a slow jog, or even a walk, but we can?t stop. From now on we need to always be on our toes, always one step ahead of every trainer out there.?

I looked at him, and felt tears start to fill up my eyes. No longer was Miracle standing there. It was someone else inside him, making him wild. He trusted no one, and that included other Pokemon. He would do what he felt was right at the spur of the moment. Nothing mattered to him anymore, just being ahead of everyone else in the world.

?I?ll jog,? I said while blinking away the tears. Now wasn?t the time to dwell on what happened in the past, but to figure out where we would go.

?Good,? he sighed. He started off jogging, but for me, it felt like a run. Never again did I want to run such distances. I let my mind drift off to childhood memories, to take my mind off the running for a while.

We used to have races, the five of us running our young hearts out, and our parents cheering us on like we were five horses at the Kentucky Derby. We each had our own style and never changed it. For me it was to sprint ahead, and then never look back until the tip of my tail crossed the invisible finish line. For Miracle, it was to follow my tail closely, and then try to out sprint me at the end, after I had used most of my energy, but he could never manage to catch me. I suppose if we raced again, he would be able to not only catch me, but to run far ahead. Sunny had always done the same as me, but never had the strength in her hind legs to push off as quickly. Rocky usually just ran behind everyone, not caring if he lost. In fact, he probably wouldn?t notice if he won. He flat out didn?t care. Breezy could never do the short races, her body couldn?t go fast enough to succeed in those. What she did best was distance, seeing as her whole body was filled with endurance.

The order of races was usually the same, but did change on occasions. For example, I could never run in the mud and Miracle struggled with dew. Sunny hated snow and Rocky hated ice. Breezy could stand anything and almost nothing could faze her. On those occasions, it wasn?t uncommon to see Breezy dash to victory, no matter what the distance. On every other occasion, when the ground was soft and dry, I would win, followed closely by Miracle, Sunny, and Rocky, along with Breezy, trailing behind.

All the running we were doing reminded me of my childhood races. Although we did have distance races, they were rarely over a mile. In a few minutes, I wouldn?t be surprised if we peaked six. I decided quickly that if we ever found our way back home ? if Sunny found her way back home ? if the other two were still there ? then we could relive it. Of course it would never be the same again. Miracle would dominate every game we played: tag, races, ?Trainers and Pokemon?, and just about anything else. I suppose it wouldn?t be a bad thing, but it would take a while to get used to the life of losing to a ruthlessly strong Miracle.

?There are some tress over there. We can lie down, take a rest for the night, and start again early tomorrow morning,? Miracle instructed.

With that said, he didn?t delay to use his excess energy to dash over to the trees. I tried to follow the example that had been set, but my body refused to do it. Instead, I continued going at the speed before, arriving at the shelter much later than my companion had.

As soon as I collapsed onto a bed of leaves, I closed my eyes and drifted off into the paradise I like to call sleep.

****************

?Mom? What are you doing here??

The Flareon looked over, a glassy look in her eyes. Her entire body was frail and deathly skinny. Her ribcage was easily visible, and she looked as though she had no muscle left in her body. Part of her hind leg was bloody, and my eyes traveled to a spot where the skin was torn right off. I tried to tell myself over and over that it just happened in some battle, but I couldn?t pull myself to believe it. For the Espeon in the cage next to her had the same exact marking, and they must have agreed to it. The people had forgotten to feed them, and with no way to get out of their cage, they had to find food on their own. And the only food left was themselves??

?Nooooooooooooo?.?

I heard I quick shuffle of leaves as something leaped to its feet and shook me like crazy. I opened my eyes and saw Miracle stranding over me, a hint of panic in his eyes.

?What happened?? He asked quickly, so quickly that it all sounded like a single word.

?It was nothing ? just a dream ? just a dream ? nothing else.?

Miracle looked at me, the panic gone from his eyes, but replaced with concern. This actually pleased me, knowing that Miracle cared about me more than safety. Maybe on the inside he was just like me. An Eevee that was too young to be left alone ? fearful, hurt, and lonely. And maybe, deep down, he knew that he didn?t want to be left alone either.

?All right. Well, I hate to rush you, but we need to get going.?

?It?s fine.? And that was the truth. After all, it was another day.

This story was great! I like Miracle the most! :) No, I like Sunny the most! Can't wait till the next chapter! ;)

OOC: This is my longest chapter so far. I should be finished with the story soon, so only a couple more posts left.

Chapter 13

We had only been walking for a couple minutes, but already my paws were beginning to hurt from all the running we had done yesterday. As we walked, I debated between which had hurt more, today or yesterday. Yesterday, I was killing myself, but now I was really feeling the strain. I prayed that we would find a faster mode of transportation ? and one that was less painful than this.

And then it happened. God put a herd of Rapidash in our path. There they were, eight to be exact, just grazing along, a single male in front staring at us with untrusting eyes. Miracle looked back at him with that same look, one of coldness and hate. Finally, the Rapidash moved forward towards us, his walk slow, collected, and full of fear.

?Why are you here?? he asked quite simply.

?Because we don?t have anywhere else to go,? Miracle said without emotion.

?I?m Desire and that?s Miracle,? I said, hoping to get on the leader?s good side. Miracle shot me a look, but I ignored it. ?Could you??

?Ricky,? he said, knowing what the question would be. He pawed at the ground in nervousness of telling us his name.

?They are ?? Miracle started.

?My herd. If you follow me I can introduce them to you, but don?t try any funny stuff, or else we will trample you until you can?t feel it anymore - until you can?t feel anything anymore.? Although he was nervous, Ricky threatened us as if it were nothing.

We followed him as he trotted back to his herd. I noticed off the bat that Ricky was the tallest, and his body was well proportioned. Nothing was out of place, and he moved easily.

The first horse he stopped at was a muscular mare who looked a lot like Ricky did, but more stocky. She also appeared to be strong, and her eyes showed how nervous she truly was of us.

?This is Little Bit, my lead mare. She is my mate and gallops with me at the front of the pack,? Ricky said. The mare seemed alarmed by Ricky?s short introduction, but stood her ground as we walked over to two other fire Pokemon. These two were the exact opposite of Ricky and Little Bit. They were skinny, their backs sloped, their heads were too large for their necks, and their legs were too long for their bodies.

?Although it isn?t an honorable position, these two are at the bottom as the latter, as you may call it. Meet Wade and Pac Man. They aren?t mates, but they don?t hate each other either. Wade is usually ahead of Pac Man, but only because she is much younger. Pac Man is always bringing up the rear of our herd, and is the oldest member of my herd.?

I had always been taught that the old should be respected, but these Pokemon must have though differently because the stallion?s body was covered with bite marks and bruises. Wade had some too, but it couldn?t compare to the stallion?s. Ricky didn?t seem to notice, and if he did, he didn?t care. He walked right on to another mare and stallion pair.

?This is Billie and Randy, the best friends of the herd. They are always together, and when they aren?t, they call for each other. They did have one foal, but it was too weak to survive the winter. Randy is the fastest stallion we have, and Billie is the fastest mare, aside from Little Bit. Little Bit and I manage to outrun Billie, but we need to give Randy a nip to keep him in place.? Randy gave Ricky a hateful look as he said that, but lowered his head back down quickly, so that Ricky wouldn?t see. ?They are second highest, below me and Little Bit,? Ricky concluded.

He walked off to a final pair of horses, a stallion and a filly. The filly, younger than all the rest, pranced about as we came over, unlike all the other horses had.

?This is Max and his daughter Rosie. His mate, Erika, died shortly after birth, and Max was left with the responsibility of taking care of the filly. He did a pretty good job if you ask me.?

With all the horses accounted for, Ricky gave a final nod of his head. Miracle didn?t know what to say, so I decided to take his place.

?Thank you for introducing them all. I ? we were wondering if we could travel with your herd for just a little while.? Ricky lifted his head high and snorted, and pranced back onto his hind legs, moving backwards a little.

?I?m not sure,? he said finally, his body becoming darker with sweat in many areas.

?They can come,? Little Bit said, ?If they can keep up with the pace.? She gave her mate a quick wink, and he quickly understood what she meant, as did I. She would run us until we couldn?t run anymore.

?All right,? Ricky said with a sigh. Then, with an ear piercing whinny, he wheeled around on his hind legs, and tore off at a mad run, with Randy quickly following. Than came Little Bit, Billie, Max, Rosie, Wade, Pac Man ? and us. I could barely see ahead, but I could hear a whinny of pain and surprise pierce the air. I knew it was Randy, who had ventured too far ahead of the pack. But that was all I could hear. Everything else was being drowned out by the pounding of hooves.

After about a half hour, the herd had slowed down to a steady trot, giving me and Miracle to make up all the ground we had lost. We had made it up to Billie, when I heard a shriek from Ricky. With that, the whole group started galloping in every direction, their bodies covered in sweat and dirt, the whites of their eyes visible, and their eyes flattened in effort and fear.

Miracle and I dashed over to a tree in fear of being run over by the huge Pokemon. From our place on the earth, we could see what was frightening them. In a shadowy patch of grass, a teenage boy and young girl stood. Chasing the horses were a Jolteon, Persian, and an Espeon.

Something was familiar about the Espeon, but I couldn?t put a finger on just what it was. As I sat in the shade of the tree, I realized exactly what it was. It was the green that her body was covered in ?

Sunny! She was alive after all, and didn?t seem the least bit harmed by the experience. In fact, she looked every inch a champion, and appeared to be more powerful than Miracle. From the single gem on her forehead, she blasted a powerful beam of psychic energy right at Pac Man. The stallion cried out, and fell to the ground, his body shaking in exhaustion and darkened in sweat.

Randy desperately tried to outrun everyone, lashing out at anything in his way. When Ricky reached over to bite him, Randy gave a quick buck, sending his hooves flying into Ricky?s jaw. Ricky head snapped to the right, and his body followed, sending him tripping over a simple log.

?Sonic, use thunderbolt,? the boy shouted, running his hand through his blonde hair in concentration. The girl by his side stood fairly still, waiting for a good time to let her Pokemon attack.

Sonic, the Jolteon, stood rigid and the needles on his body stood up straight, like the hairs on an angry cat. Little sparks began to fly off and he released all his energy quickly after that. The golden yellow sphere went crashing into Ricky, making him cry out all the more.

This was soon interrupted by a sharp pang of pain in my right side, where Sunny had come up and slashed me. I growled, not caring who she was or what she had been though. Nobody was going to beat me.

Or so I hoped. But, the battle turned into a massacre and within minutes, I was close to fainting. I could see the boy holding his new Poke Ball and I could almost guarantee it held Ricky. I saw a glimpse of Miracle battling bravely and then something hit me. I was expecting pain, but felt none. Instead, I was moved inside a sphere type room, and I knew what was happening.

They wanted to catch me. As much as I tried, I could not free myself and fell asleep soon after that.

*gasp* POOR DESIRE!She got caught!wait..how did sunny get in the hads of a trainer and evolve?
