    I just ordered some pokemon manga from online, and I was wondering if the american version is like the japanese version. and I'm not sure what the characters do ether...Is it like the anime? Ok, tell me if I'm wrong on this...

    Red:ash
    Green:gary
    blue:garys sister?
    Silver: the guy with red hair from GSC?
    Ruby:may
    Saphire:branden?

    I think that's how it goes?...

    Whoa! I never even ordered it and I know so much
    Red is RED and Green is Green and Blue is blue, not Ash or Gary or any of that stuff. Same goes for May and Brendan except Sapphire is "May" and Ruby is "Brendan"

    Nah.. There's some errors in there...

    Red: Ash(you got that right..)
    Green(Japanese): Gary(this is right too..)
    Blue(Japanese): A brand new character.. Gary's sister is known as daisy in the manga..
    Silver is the GSC rival..(Yay.. you got this right too..)
    Ruby: Brendan
    Sapphire: May
    There's Gold and Crystal too...

    Yes it is.. Expect that in the English version, Blue is known as Green and vice versa..

    wow.......

    thats like way confusing........

    i did know that

    red was ash.....

    that was it.......and i am new to this 2

    Well actually the manga is in no relation to the anime. The characters are based on the game, that's why their names are just according to colors.

    The anime just gives them names so that they won't be 'color coded'.

    The anime and the games I am not sure, but I know Pokemon Special (Pokemon Adventure) came last.

    Uhh... you need to spell better O_o

    Well for that no, is not like the anime (well not exactly) just there are some things that goes the same, but the manga (well the Special) is more violent than the anime...

    And... what did I misspell? >:o

    It's Gary's sister not Garys sister.. And Sapphire not Saphire. and also Brandon not Branden.. Didn't bother to pinpoint that out before.. but since someone mentioned bout that.. Well..

    The games actually came first, than the anime, than the Pokemon Special mangas.

    EDIT: Whoops, my bad. The Pokemon Special Manga than the anime.

    Well, it might help if you told us what Manga it was. I'd assume it's Pocket Monsters Special (Pokemon Adventures).

    The names are as follows:

    Red=Red
    Blue=Green
    Green=Blue
    Yellow Caballero=Yellow De Tokiwa Gorobu
    Gold=Gold
    Silver=Silver
    Chris=Crys
    Ruby=Ruby
    Sapphire=Sapphire
    Wally=Mitsuru
    Emerald=Emerald

    In the case of Anime, it is as follows:

    Ash Ketchum=Satoshi
    Gary Oak=Shigeru
    Jimmy (Yoshi)=Kenta
    Rival=No name (fan-names are "Nanashi", "Kamon", "Hiro", and "Silver")
    Marina (Dani)=Marina
    Brendan=Yuuki
    May=Haruka

    Don't forget about Gino that is said to be the english name. I also seen Gin but I think it came from Japanese bacause "Gin" in japanse mean Silver.

    But everebody has to Remember it! POKESPECIAL HAS NO RELATION TO THE POKEMON ANIME!
    And Special came FIRST than anime.
    First Games (Pokettomonsuta- Akai/Midori) were released in 1994 (or 1995, I don't remember)
    Pokemon Special Manga came in 1997
    Anime came in 1998!

    Maxim, nicoleb, I thank you for pointing out that Pokemon Special has no relation to the anime... for a moment I thought I was going to burst... lol
