Okay, so in the latest update from Serebii we were shown the Oath-GrassFireWater mixes. One of these showed us a rainbow appearing, doubling effect chances.

So we have a new weather effect, Rainbow.
How many of you are going to get your Iron Head Jirachi and and go rolling in your 120% flinch chance? ;)

i love the thought of that

Sometimes tells me that this is going to get Jirachi banned, and Togekiss banned, which is a shame because i use both.

That isn't a new weather affect. There is also a combination the creates a field of fire on the opponents side of the field. Is random fields of fire a weather condition now too? :|

It's just an attack that is the result of combining other attacks. :/ Not a weather condition. Also, weather conditions boost certain type attacks. All of them do. This one doesn't, you know why? Because it's not a weather condition.

What would Rainbow be then, person who must be correct?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure you can't have a Sandstorm and a Rainbow up at the same time, or Hail and Rainbow, so that'd easily make Rainbow a weather effect.

Togekiss will be an ABSOLUTE nightmare if this is true.

Air Slash will become 120% chance of causing a flinch.

WaterPulse will become 60% chance of causing confusion.

OminousWind/AncientPower will become 40% chance of increasing ALL of it's stats.

And not to mention all the Fire/Electric type moves it can lean that will have increased chances of burns/paralysis.

    This is not good.

So it's not an actual weather effect, whatever, the point still stands that Jirachi is going to get bumped to Uber.

You people seem to be forgetting that it's a hard weather effect to get in place.

Two Oath moves have to be used before Jirachi or whatever can attack (and I'm assuming it only last perhaps 3 turns). Meaning that 3 enemy Pokemon could EASILY take out Jirachi before it has a chance to even attack.

Not to mention that the Oath attacks probably aren't available to many Pokémon.

And we don't even know if triple battles will be competitive.

Boost in Pokemon language, usually means either increase 50% or double, even at that, FlinchRachi and FlinchKiss have 90% flinch rates without the opponent being paralyzed.

Also, to the comment above, whats to say there won't be a Rainbow-making move? I'm sure Jirachi would learn it. We've got moves that start weather effects, I'm sure Rainbow would get one.

If it was a singular move why both using a combination to get it? That would ruin the entire point of the combination moves really...

Like the others, it'll probably be 2-5 turns, having said that, in real life rainbows last a lot less than other weathers do, so it could be 2-3 turns...

That would make it hard for the OmegaFlinchranchi of yours to work, which is good :)

True, at 328 attack, Jirachi doesn't have much to work from, so it takes time to whittle down the opponent, so 2-3 turns would probably dent it.

Well damn, my reaction when I realised Ho-oh could get a Dream World ability that summons a permanent Rainbow.

It doesn't really seem like a new weather type to me, either way, discuss it here, which is where everything about the combinations goes, including speculation regarding the "rainbow weather type".

    Locked.
