No One Said Life Was Easy

(( The Contest is suppose to start tomorrow morning, but, since Random_Fan's activity is way down, I think he needs to post once more before we can go onto the next day. ))

Night fell over the ship. I stayed on the top deck, sitting on a bench, and looking at the sky. I wasn't trying to see anything; I just had to. What was in the sky that seemed so important to some people? I didn't know. My dad had been one to use stars as metaphors sometimes. Now I'm finding myself looking at the stars, and wondering how they could be so…metaphoric.

"They're just stars," I said silently. I looked away and found only a couple of people still on the top deck. How long would it take until I gave it a rest already and entered the ship? I don't know, but since I was up there, I might as well have some company.

Sand was right beside me now. I didn't think he understood it when I said my Dad was gone from the world. Frankly, I don't even think the two even had a relationship of sorts, and even so, I found myself thinking, 'what would a Pokémon know?'

"So not like me," I said to myself.

Sand came nearer to me, laying on a comfortable position on the bench, but I could tell he was nowhere near from sleeping. That was good; neither was I. as the time passed, Sand got closer and closer to me, though still ended up giving some space of my own.

"You're cool," I said, smiling at Sand. "I promise when this is over, we'll start battling again. It'll be all better."

So, it had turned out I had made my mind; I was going to continue my journey. It wasn't that hard of a decision to make, but I somehow made it hard on myself. Man, why does this have to happen anyways?

"Come on Sand," I said, standing, "Let's go." Though I sounded a bit grim, I hid it with my fake smile.

(( Sorry I havn't been around the thread lately, I havn't been feeling very well at all. >: But, I shall not let this die! >D ))

By now, everyone had been fed, and it had turned into a rather lazy afternoon. "Alright, come on... Let's not lay around here like bums." Ireland said to her Pokemon. 'I pretty much am a bum.' Phin said with a smirk, leaning up against Mag's leg with his legs crossed and hands behind his head. Ireland sighed. "Well, then, I guess you won't be able to see any beach babes..." Ireland said sarcastically, but Phin took it seriously. He jumped up and struck a modeling pose. 'A bum?! Not I!' He declared.

Ireland chuckled, "Okay, come on, guys." Ireland coaxed. Slowly, her Pokemon got up and were moving around. Ireland returned Cotton and Mag and decided to go for a walk around Lilycove with her Pokemon since the night was coming fast. "Care to join us?" Ireland asked Itari with a warm smile.

OOC: Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've had writer's block. ^^;

Itari replied to Ireland's question with a nod and a smile. She looked around at her Pokemon then lifted each of their various Pokeballs and recalled all but Catori and Almose. Almose let out a chirrup of happiness at the chance to walk with his trainer but turned it instantly into a cough and nodded his head in an uncaring way.

Catori smirked and stuck her tongue out at the little Furret who returned the gesture. "Be nice you two," Itari scolded amusedly before turning to her new friend. "Where shall we go first?"

Ireland smiled as Itari smiled and nodded. She'd found a new friend. Ireland waited with her group of three Pokemon as Itari recalled all but two. Ireland had returned Phin since he decided to bother Foxy. Once Itari was ready, Ireland began walking, Itari next to her. "Where shall we go first?" Itari asked.

"Hmm," Ireland hummed, "I dunno... How about we check out the department store? Window shopping, you know?" Ireland suggested with a smile. "Bay!" Razor shouted as a random flyer came in contact with his face. Ireland removed the flyer and glanced down at it. "Beauty Contest... On the day of Princess Day? What's Princess Day?" Ireland asked, reading the flyer. "If its soon, I'm sure Victoria will attend. Maybe I can win that..." Ireland mumbled to herself, waiting for Itari's reply.

OOC: Mind if I just get out of that cruise? XD

EDIT: lol, this post just reminded me of the movie Crank, now that I think about it. XD

--

The night was just how a night was supposed to be. You would get ready for bed, then you'd go to sleep. I had found that there were many people doing so. Me; well, I had wanted to go to sleep, but something changed my mind. There was no point to it; I would just keep thinking. In my mind, there was only one way to get it out of my mind, and that was to get to where I was going at the fastest pace possible.

So no one took notice when I began to jack all the Pokéblocks and any form of Pokéfood. I didn't thing anyone would, considering almost half the ones I took were free anyways.

Maybe they should have kept better watch on me; I was the kind of guy to just get there, finish, and move on. To me, this was just too slow. I wasn't going to let it go like that.

So, did anyone notice when the big bird flew off deck with a trainer riding, passing the ship, in hopes of getting to Hoenn faster? I think not.

The wind was fast; Pidge was faster. We rode the wind like we belonged to it. It was actually pretty fun.

After awhile, I wasn't so cautious to keep holding on. I let go of Pidge, and just sat. the ocean below was passing by really fast, and I could tell that Pidge was trying her hardest to get to Hoenn. It may have been a land unfamiliar to her, but she had to find a way to land.

Knowing this, I tried to make myself lighter (however possible or impossible that may be).

After awhile, I wasn't so stuck onto her. I climbed higher from her back, getting near her head and hugging her neck. The ocean and stars were beautiful. There was nothing else I could say about them.

"How much can you hold up?" I asked Pidge.

Her answer, I wouldn't understand. However, just because I did not speak her language didn't mean I wouldn't get what she meant. I knew it had been somewhere around almost getting there.

As the time passed, I began to rise from her back, trying to stand against the wind. Pidge noticed this and tried to slow down, but I told her to keep going and not worry.

Now standing in an unsafe position, I spread out my arms and looked forward, as if to be flying too. And that's when I saw the outline of the coast of Slateport. I knew this is where I had to stop; Pidge would be too tired to go on. I had already seen signs of that.

"We're doing fine, Pidge," I assured her. But she still seemed too tired. "Don't worry about a thing; just concentrate on getting to land.

Pidge tried, but she began to have double vision. She couldn't go on, and I knew it. This would prove to be a problem in coming closer.

I couldn't tell just by looking, how far we actually were. However, I could tell that it seemed to me we just weren't going to make it; we were going down, and we were going in for a crash landing. Uh oh.

--

At the dark beach of Slateport, it would seem you would find no one on land. They seemed to have all gone home to enjoy everything and anything else they could.

So they didn't notice the Pidgeot fly out of control and towards the sands.

At the last second, right before Pidge made a crash landing, I returned her. This proved to be a very dangerous move. She disappeared from beneath me, and I went ahead and fell to the hard sand, rolling over and over, eventually stopping, and taking the position of what others would think I'd be doing; taking a nap under the stars of the beach.

No one stopped to ask if I was alright because all they thought was that I was sleeping under the stars; in reality, I was knocked unconscious by the crash landing.

Itari voiced her agreement to window shopping and paused when Ireland came across a contest flier. 'They're having lots of contests right now, aren't they?' said Catori, yawning and glancing over at the paper in an uninterested way.

"Princess Day," said Itari, ignoring her Pokemon and looking interestedly at the advertisement. "I think it's a day celebrating girls. Big sales and contests, like that beauty contest. And a lot of restaurants serve girls for free. I could be wrong though," she continued, her eyes skimming back and forth across the words printed on the page, "because I haven't been to a Princess Day celebration before. Well, once when I was a kid, I think."

'A day for the girls,' said Almose, grinning dreamily, 'bet they'd love to have me participate. I'd be the center of attention and the biggest hit of the day.'

Both Itari and Catori rolled their eyes but neither replied. "I think it'd be fun to enter the Beauty Contest. We both could, if we're in town long enough. Then we'd have twice as good a chance at beating Victoria." She hadn't known the girl long and had only spoken to her for about ten seconds, but she heartily disliked her, mainly because of the obvious neglect of her Delcatty.

"Hmm," Ireland murmured thoughtfully. "A day for girls is just the kind of holiday that Victoria likes. The sales sound nice..." Ireland said with a slight smile. 'I know what Princess Day is!' Razor chirped, 'It's the day when all the men pay for the girls, they're like slaves.' He informed the two girls.

"Oh... Well, forget making guys pay... Although, it'd be a lot of fun to make that snobby guy pay for everything." Ireland chuckled. Her hazel eyes scanned the flier, finding the date. "Nn, Princess Day is the day after tomorrow." Ireland said with a sigh. "No wonder there were so many Sale signs up already." Ireland said.

"Well, it says here we'll need a Kimono. Nothing else, though. Just casual wear and a kimono..." Ireland read.

Catori was grinning in a very evil way at Almose who gulped and averted his eyes. 'Here that, Almy, boys get to be the girls slaves. Let's see, which one of us is the girl and which one of us is the guy?' she mocked a thoughtful silence then said, 'Oh! That's right! I'm the girl,' her grin widened, 'and you're the boy.'

"Stop torturing Almose, Catori," said Itari in a mock stern voice. She grinned then turned her attention back to the conversation. "A Kimono, eh? Well with all the sales going on right now it shouldn't be too hard to find one. If we decide to enter, of course." Her expression became a thoughtful one and she looked around the street for a moment because continuing, "What do you think? I can spare a couple more days here, and of course there's the coordinator contest tomorrow. I'll need to have my Pokemon healed which means staying another night anyway."

Ireland soon folded up the flier and shoved it in her pocket. She smiled as she listened to Itari as they walked down the street aimlessly. "Hmm, well..." Ireland said, looking down at her watch, "It's getting sort of late. The sotres will be closing... How about tomorrow we shop for our kimonos? Right after the tournament, we can drop our Pokemon off with Nurse Joy and go shopping in peace." Ireland suggested with a smile.

"We might as well participate in local activity. After this season, there's nothing to do. I heard the Firefly Festival is coming up soon, too. That's sure to be a lot of fun, depending on where you are in the world." Ireland said with a grin.

Itari nodded absently, her mind wandering to the contest due to take place the next morning. Already she was feeling jittery excitement beginning to creep into her stomach but she had to grin. Win or lose it would be fun, no doubt.

'What's the Firefly Festival?' asked Almose from his trainer's arms, looking up at her curiously.

Itari shrugged. "Not sure." She turned her eyes back to Ireland and repeated the question then added, "Want to go back down to the beach before heading to the Pokemon Center or wherever you're staying tonight?"

OOC: Perhaps now we can find poor Roger and get him some help. He's been lying in the sand for some time now. :P

(( I - I mean... - WE'RE COMING ROGER! IRELANDANDPEEPS TO THE RESCUUUUE!! ))

Ireland smiled to Itari and then looked back at the senery before her, opening her mouth to explain. "The Firefly Fesitival is an awesome (( Made up. >.> )) Festival that it enjoyable for all ages. It's the time of the year that The Firefly Pokemon, Illumise and Volbeat, swarm. They all gather up near the Daycare. But, since the Firefly Pokemon like to explore, they go basically everywhere, but near the Daycare is the only place you can catch them. But, the Fireflies migrate in swarms, so at night, its really pretty to see them all swarm. At the Firefly Festival, people set out food and display lights to attract the swarm to stay for a while. They will eventually fly off again, though. The Firefly Festival is also traditional, favoring kimonos and such." Ireland explained, looking back at Itari.

"And, sure, a visit to the beach sounds nice... Hopefully that brute that likes you so much won't be there. Many people would have gone home by now." Ireland said, turning on the sidewalk towards the beach.

Itari nodded, smiling as she imagined what the Firefly Festival would be like. "Sounds really nice," she murmured, setting off after Ireland. It took a few moments for her second comment to sink in but when it did, Itari hesitated. "I hope he has," she said, referring to the lug who had attempted to win her heart earlier. "But, if he hasn't, I can always have Almose protect me."

'Noble defender,' said Almose, lifting his head proudly and trying to get the little light left in the sky to glint off his sunglasses.

Catori grinned and hopped nimbly from her trainer's head to the ground. 'Hey Almose, how 'bout a race? I bet I can beat you to the water's edge.'

'Cannot,' said Almose sniffily, edging his way out of Itari's arms and hopping down.

'Ready, set, giya!' The grass type sprinted away, leaving an irritated Almose struggling to catch up.

Itari sighed and shook her head. "Well, at least they'll get some exercise in before tomorrow's contest."

OOC: Sorry I haven't posted in a while... my new job's been wearing me out mentally. XD It's hard to learn so many new things at once.

Allen
==========

Singe was really getting a bit bored with this one-way conversation. She eyed Allen with a slightly annoyed look as he continued to ramble on about the two girls they had met earlier and how pathetically poorly bred they were.

"-not to mention the fact that they can't seem to recognize a handsome, wealthy boy when they see one!" he said with a smile to Singe and himself. He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts and see if there was anything at all that he had missed mentioning.

They were in the Pokemon Center, waiting in line to rent a room. Singe had a feeling that all of the rooms were probably gone by now; but Allen had an idea that they would gladly make an exception for a McDermott. The nurse of the center looked quite hurried and overwhelmed as she darted back and forth behind the counter. There were just so many people here for that contest. Allen would have loved to stay at a private hotel or something, but they were all full up. Everywhere he went they were full, and so this was the last spot. Surely the people here would not let him down. It's not as if he would be made to share a room with strangers, as was the case with overcrowded Pokemon Centers, right?

Ireland chuckled slightly, watching at Itari's Pokemon dashed off towards the sand. Now, the beach was in view, and it looked empty. Well, at least there would be no one to bump into, and no one challanging you to battles, then trying to steal your new friend's heart while accusing you of attempted murder.

Razor lifted his head and rested his chin on Ireland's shoulder as they walked, causing Ireland to lifted her hand and pat his head. "While you have Almose, I'll have Razor." Ireland said with a grin.

"Odd?" Jingle questioned. She hopped up onto Razor's head, bounced off his leaf and onto Ireland's. "Oddish!" Jingle called out, spotting a body lying in the sand, but, not in either of the trainer's view for the moment. "Oddish, Oddish, Odd!" She chimed, hopping up and down. "What's wrong, Jingle?" Ireland asked, looking up. "Oddish!" Jingle exclaim, frustrated they couldn't see it.

The Oddish hopped off of Ireland's head and rushed towards the body, which was now within the trainer's view. "What in the name of... Hey, you okay?" Ireland called. When the person didn't respond, Ireland rushed towards the body in the sand.

Oh my, blurry vision. Just looking, barely opening my eyes, I see some shadow. I felt as if Gravity was pulling me in all types of directions, not giving me much choice but to stay put. Then after a short while, I felt the gravity pull in only one direction; down, bringing my muscles to no movement at all. When I tried to stand, the force of gravity just seemed too much.

There was a trainer standing above me. I tried to see who it was, but could not make out the person. So, I asked something. "What time is it?" it came out all tired and out of proportion, but it was something other than nothing. After that question, I asked, "Where am I?"

Ireland looked down at the male, noticing his eyes blinking to try and focus on the light. There wasn't much, since it was becoming rather late. The beach was deserted, and she was suddenly thankful that Itari suggested this trip to the beach. Ireland tilted her head at him, his mouth opening. Ireland expected a groan of pain or something, but the question he asked caught her off-guard.

What time is it? He should be asking, Who the Hell are you and why are staring at me?! "Uhm," Ireland hummed, looking at her wrist watch. "Nn, eight fifteen." Ireland answered, his next question being a more logical one. "And, you're on the beach of Lilycove... Do you need some help?" Ireland asked finally, a concerned look gracing her features.

"Lilycove?" I wondered. I thought that I had crashed near Slateport. Wait a minute, then that would mean that Pidge just flew…wow, that was pretty amazing for her; she had never flown that far before! But wait, I was still a little dazed and unsure of where I was, even after this person just told me.

"Uh, I need to get to a Pokémon Center," I said, forgetting about what had just happened. I was not familiar with this region; I needed some directions. "Can you point me in the right direction?" I was thinking about telling her more, but I stopped myself. There was no need; she was just someone I met while waking up from an unwanted sleep. She and her friend were not important to me at all; I needed to get to a Center, and hopefully find out more about my Dad. Just thinking about him sent me a shiver that I held within me, making sure that I did not show the shiver to this other person. Even if she picked it up, she would probably think it was because of the whether or something.
