I got a bit bored of making my game last night so I took a break and made a short, fun game called Not Another RPG? It's basicly a parody of a classic RPG adventure.
I'm not sure if it's actually funny to guys out we'll soon find out!

PS: Don't kill me about the mapping, I did rush it. :(

There is the link to the download!

As you can see it uses the basic, monsters, graphics and heroes that are in a default game....

    Standard crappy, lazy maps.

A bit of the lazy, simple and pathetic intro.....

Here is a random screenshot of a game I am making, if you noticed the shadow on the people, the shadow position will change as the time of day changes, every hour the shadows will slightly move position to match the sun's position, there will be no shadows at night unless there is a fire, lampost, etc.
The battle system and most of the menu is finished, I just need to finish my Pok?dex and ItemD?x scripts and I've finished. And yes, I know that Jesse sprite is....eer...wierd.....
I'm currently working on getting a better one!

Another PS: I think I made a record time in completing a game! 5 Hours!
PS3: Don't expect an ultra quality game here, I did make it in less than a quarter of a day. :P

Thanks, yeah, a tip if you ever get bored of making your game....
Break out the good 'ol RTP and make a short funny game!
And then you want to make your other game again!

    Oh, Pok?mon Islandil Theives 3?
Nah, I decided it was just too messed up and stuff to work with and I couldn't map using Pok?mon tilesets well back, so this new game I've been developing for about 2 months is gonna be great, I was thinking about releasing a demo after I finished the revamped Cerulean City.

Hmm...not really sure, I just thought about making a soooo simple game, no fancy scripts, pcitures, story, just a simple game.
So, I thought of that, might as well make fun of the simpleness!P

And I answered your question in the help thread budgie.
Well, I don't think this game was that good though, since I didn't really put much effort into it and used all the simple functions of RMXP.
If I ever get bored again, I'll take a break and make a Hard Mode,

ive played it and i liked it. it might be a bit short but it is funny and created in just 4 hours!!!:)

hehe, thanks Moggy, actually it was created in 5 hours but meh.
I'm suprised someone replyed on this, it was in the deep dark depths of page 5, I guess there's no room for non-Pok?mon games in Game Dev really....

Ahh well you know that blizzy should make a sub-forum for non-pokemon games...Just kidding

but what should happen is that games with very little or no detail, or ones that are going nowhere should be closed straight away.

    EG.
dark ash and his multicolor games of the past

    Help topics

and all those folk who spam should be reported straight away (I must be honest though, I have spammed many times before when I was a noob and should be flung off PC by now) and if they spam often have them removed from the forum! (Thank you for keeping me:nervous: )

the shadow on the people, the shadow position will change as the time of day changes, every hour the shadows will slightly move position to match the sun's position,
That can be very difficult to pull off. You see, the darkness and lightness of the sprites are in one direction, making the sunlight look like it comes from the west. But since you're going to have an eastern sun, you'll have to chance the light pixels on the buildings and sprites for every sun movement. Either that or the shadows will look very silly. But I think it can be pulled off in the nighttime.
That's one of the reasons I dont plan on having day-nite in my game, but will if I decide to.

I've already got that sorted out, the day/night script developed activates game_switches which change the event of sun, which has comment identifiers in them, for the shadow script

@qfred: well, this is going to sound silly but I did it too make the game longer:P
