I've been testing this NU team out on Pokemon Online, and it's pretty solid. This team is a Hyper-offensive kind of team and uses the fire/water/grass core but with some walls, but I am been having trouble deciding what the 6th member should be. All help are appreciated.
Here's a look at the team:
Rotom-S @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Air Slash
- Trick
- Thunderbolt
My lead and revenge killer. Standard Rotom-S set: Thunderbolt and Air Slash for coverage, trick to lock the opponent into entry hazards, and Volt Switch to scout.
Torkoal (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: White Smoke
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Yawn
Part of the Fire/Grass/Water core. Also the Stealth Rocker, spinner, and the physical wall on the team. With the EV spread, this Torkoal reaches 416 Defense, enough to take two of Armaldo's Stone Edges with ease. Rapid spin and Stealth Rocks are self-explanatory, Lava Plume because it has a 30% chance to burn, and Yawn so it has something to do after rocks has been set up. Also Yawn forces switches.
Shiftry (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
- Sucker Punch
- Nature Power(Earthquake)
The Grass physical offensive core. Has pretty good synergy with Gurdurr and Torkoal. The swords dancing set from Smogon, and it works pretty well. Can also be a revenge killer with Sucker Punch. I wanted the physical sweeper with Swords Dance instead of the special sweeper with Nasty Plot because Shiftry has better base Attack than SPatk, and also it has priority in Sucker Punch, which has saved my ass a lot in the past because Shiftry only has base 80 Spe. Also +2 Sucker Punch does over half to a lot of physical walls, such as Armaldo.
Samurott (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Megahorn
- Aqua Jet
My Water type sweeper. Another Physical set which means that I should switch my Shiftry set to the Nasty Plot one but I'm not going to. Rotom-S checks most water type physical walls anyway. *cough cough Alomola* The Swords Dance set from Smogon, and it works pretty effectively. +2 Waterfall pretty much rapes everything that doesn't resist, and Megahorn kills every kind of Serperior except for the 252HP 252DEF set, but I can live a Giga Drain from that set and finish it with another Megahorn.
Gurdurr (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Payback
My bulky sweeper, and the only Pokemon that resists Rock in my team xD. I made it specially bulky because I will be raising my defense with Bulk up anyway. This Pokemon also gladly takes Toxics and Will-O-wisps because of Guts. Payback destroys Haunters who come in on Drain Punch, and +1 Payback 2HKOs the bulkiest Misdreavus.
The missing 6th member:
I've tried Max Sdef Muk, but Muk and Torkoal are both weak to Earthquake and Muk is slow as crap. I've tried a support Altaria, but it is too weak to do anything except for Roosting. It is also weak to rock, and two of my team members are already weak to rock. I've also tried Cradily, and while it's a good wall and all, it doesn't have good synergy with Torkoal(it doesn't resist ground and rock). At least Torkoal had Yawn to somewhat make up for it's offensive incapabilities. Guys, help me find a Pokemon that is a special wall in NU and has good synergy with Torkoal, perferably something that resists rock and flying. Thanks!
I'VE MADE LOTS OF EDITS TO THIS TEAM AND BY LOTS OF I MEAN LIKE 1:
Ok, I've decided to make the team more balanced and less hyper-offensive, with only 1-2 sweepers. The first thing I did was change Torkoal to a Rhydon. The reason I used Torkoal is pretty much to rapid spin, but I see that you can use Rhydon in NU, and thats AMAZING.
Rhydon (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 84 SDef / 84 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Megahorn
It has much more defense than Torkoal because of Eviolite, and can take special hits better too. This is the standard "tank" set from Smogon, and it's damn good.
Then I replaced Shiftry and got Amoongus, mostly because it's much more defensive than Shiftry and can use Spore. I also needed a counter to Sawk, which was wrecking my team before.
Amoonguss (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power [Ice]
The standard Physically Bulky set from Smogon, and it works pretty well as a check to fighting types and Cincinno. Pretty much the most defensive Poke on my team.
I then got a Simisear, a Poke I've used before, mostly I needed a special sweeper, and it's worked out great for me in the past.
Simisear (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Gluttony
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd/ 4 Hp
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ground]
THE SPECIAL SWEEPER ON MY TEAM LOL. And given the right support, this thing RAPES **** dammit it's censored :( For example, a +2 grass knot is a OHKO on most Milotics, arguably THE best defensive Pokemon in UU!
I then replaced the SD set on Samurott to a Special attacker set because I need more special attackers in my team.
Samurott (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Aqua Jet
The standard life orb special set on Smogon except I replaced taunt with aqua jet because taunt didn't help me that much and I don't have any priority moves on my team(I got rid of Gurdurr).
OK THE LAST CHANGE: I got rid of Gurdurr for a Bouffalant because apparently you can use them in PO NU? I need bouffalant because Spore is very annoying and I can get an attack boost with sap sipper everytime that ******* amoongus uses spore.
Bouffalant (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Head Charge
- Earthquake
- Payback
I made it a bulky hitter because Bouffalant's speed is low to begin with, and it's defenses are decent. This set is similar to a cursing Muk, except it has subsitute instead of set up moves. Payback to hit haunters and it's slow so it should be 120 base power every time.
AND THAT CONCLUDES MY TEAM.
