hey guys im new on here, i just started getting back into pokemon i was obsessed with it when i was younger but i kinda grew out of it but i have been getting back into it quite a bit lately but i dont know any of these new pokemon haha i started playing my old game boy color games like pokemon red and yellow because those are the pokemon i know haha anybody else feel the same way?

Haha, I know what you mean. I got back into gaming recently as well, and I was baffled/frustrated by all the new Pokes. I got used to it after awhile, though, and now I feel like I know them all pretty well.

    Actually exactly the same here!

I prefer the old ones over the new ones as I know the pokemon better (especially g/s/c)

I started playing again halfway 2 years ago... I do own pokemon pearl but I play crystal just as much.

also I find myself falling back on these games in bad times. I was pretty depressed when I started again an was ill and bored (also needed to go to the hospital often and stuff....) I did not own the new pokemon games, so I played crystal in the hospital and at home, and it helped me getting back on track again.

our memory always make events from the past better, and as the time of crystal was the best time of my life until now + my memory seemed to make it better, I like to think and fall back on those times when I feel bad.

see i dont even know what crystal is, i do have the gold game from when i was younger i just found it yesterday but see i didnt play that game cuz i didnt know which pokemon were strong and which were like zubat haha i wish they would make a game that has just the original 151 pokemon but has all the cool extras that some of the newer games have

You mean like FireRed and LeafGreen? ;)

I only got back into the series pretty recently too. I hadn't played since Gold, and at first I was a bit thrown by all the new mons, but they soon grew on me. It helped that the gameplay itself was improved a million after Gen II.

Well, considering I never really grew out of Pokemon, I didn't have this situation. But I can see where you're coming from. Even though I never grew out of it, I'm still a very nostalgic person, so when newer generations came, I had my criticisms. All in all, I just had to get used to it. I don't like change very much, so it just took some time.

see i think thats what i dont like about it all is that i also dont like change, and plus there is just way to many now haha i think theres like 400 or something when i tried to find out exactley how many haha i thought 151 was a lot

Subconsiously almost every Pokemon I choose trained is Gen I or Gen II unless I force myself to choose one from Gen III or Gen IV.

Persoanlly, I like the large amount because it makes the Pokemon world seem more real when there's lots of diversity. For example in the early anime there use to be lots of real world animals because there were less Pokemon, e.g. fish because there was only like Magikarp, Goldeen and (later) Remoraid.

Not that I really watch the anime anymore.

i remember i used to be able to recite the whole "pokerap" when i was 13 and there were only 151 pokemon, but now there's so many of them! now that i've picked up Ruby, i'm always finding ones i had never even heard of so it's kinda tough... (x_o)
