    Hello PokeCommunity

I am CCTrigger, a long-time fan of Pokemon. I just recently got back into it, starting when Pokemon X and Y came out. I love Pokemon with all of my heart, and the people that play as well. I recently made my forum account, and wanted to start it off with something a little unconventional. Ya' know, like to introduce myself. And that would be the OP Pikachu Guide. Also, please feel free to DM me any questions you need answered ASAP, as I am extremely active on this forum and have extensive knowledge with all things pokemon, from Gen. I - VI, I can answer it all :) Now for my guide...

    OP Pikachu Guide

Pikachu is probably the most known Pokemon ever, just because of how it is advertised everywhere, from the anime, to the mangas and games. It is also one of the cutest, with Gen. VI making it even cuter with changing it's cry from it's original snarl, to it now saying "pika pika." But unfortunately, no one sees it's real strength, and as a result, making it one of the Pokemon no one uses in competitive battling. I'm hear to show you a way to make your Pikachu as battle ready as it can be.

First, let's start of with it's base stats.
    HP: 35
    ATTACK: 55
    DEFENSE: 40
    SP. ATTACK: 50
    SP. DEFENSE: 50
    SPEED: 90
Ok, stats aren't HORRIBLE, but not so great either. Let's fix that with the item of the Light Ball. While Pikachu holds the Light Ball, it increases Special Attack, making it a Special wall, thanks to Pikachu's speed. The Light Ball has a 5% chance of being held by Pikachu in the Santalune Forest in Pokemon X and Y, so having a Pokemon with the ability "frisk" and the move "thief" in your second slot, and a fainted pokemon with the ability "static" in your first slot would be the easiest way to obtain this item.
With Pikachu's Sp. Atk. raised, and it's speed already high, Pikachu makes for a good Attacker, with moves with Thunderbolt, Volt Tackle, Feint, and Brick Break.

The other way you can use Pikachu, is as a support Pokemon. This can be done by making it hold the item "Focus Sash" and having moves such as Endeavor, Brick Break, Protect, and Helping Hand. This kind of Pikachu should be used in Double Battles only, as it would not do much in Single Battles.

Thank you, I hope this helped. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. I will try to respond within 12 hours at the latest. Most of the time, it will be answered almost immediately. Have a good day :)

So is this mostly that using a Light Ball can make Pikachu better?

The quasi-FEAR set in Doubles might be possible - if you have Endeavour, which not all Pikachu do - albeit given that any Focus Sash-Endeavour hijinks will usually only occur if it's not expected to stay in for that long, and in that scenario Helping Hand might not be of use for particularly long, while Brick Break would possibly be rarely used except for short stays, such that the usual resort to Feint or other increased priority moves, or just a more orthodox move, might be useful. Clarifying the general direction intended with those moves might be useful, as outside of using a Light Ball or a possible but rare Doubles set-up there isn't that much on the specifics of Pikachu's point in battles. Possibly if it had Nuzzle, but for that the shipping in the anime would have to get to the point where the Pikachu is steadily adapted into being a surrogate for Serena.
