For a fan-made Pokemon game I was wondering how different people felt about capturing legendaries. It always bugged me that it was possible to capture a god in a Pokeball, but I was wondering how others felt. I want to know if it is even worth it to create a whole different way to obtain the legendaries for the Pokedex and even using them to help with major battles and stuff. I've been teetering on the idea and could really use a community input.

capturing them gives better satisfaction than joining the team out of the blue, although a well written story element can be used, it can get repetitive if you always have to do the same thing to get them to join you

I have toyed with this idea a bit for the game I'm working on, but haven't made any headway. What I'm attempting to do is not make the legendaries such a core part of my story.

I have always felt annoyed the main series games couldn't seem to get away from always having a legendary of some kind integrated into the story. So nearly all legendaries in my game are catchable post story, or as a side quest. For me, that's how I'm doing it.

Legendaries are a must for me. They make good stories and sidequests. They should be in a game, catchable or not, but not too much. I think 7-8 legendaries is enough.
