So I've played Omega Ruby for three times now, once with all three starters, and I did it quite easily. I am that guy that wants to keep playing Story Mode, so I'm planning to restart once again. To spicen things up, I thought of randomizing the team. By this, I mean to let a randomizer choose which Pokemon I must use for the Story Mode. I've already done this and these are the results:
- Starter: I let the randomizer choose between the three types, and it chose Fire which would be Torchic.
- Team: The other 5 types of Pokemon I must get/use are: Fairy, Steel, Bug, Ice and Flying.
To be honest, I find these types very... hard to play with because:
- Bug is generally quite weak
- Ice is found pretty late in the game
- There is not very much to choose from the Flying-type
- The combination of using Steel, Bug and Ice-types makes me very vulnerable to Fire-type Pokemon.
Eventhough these disadvantages, I am taking the challenge. I already made up a possible team, but I'm not sure if this is a good team:
Fire: Blaziken. Obviously..
Fairy: Gardevoir. It is a quite strong pokemon to me and I've been playing with a Gardevoir since my first gameplay on Emerald's release.
Steel: Aggron or Skarmory. Aggron because it is a really strong Pokemon. Skamory has both types I must use, Flying and Steel. This gives me the opportunity to choose whether to get another Steel Pokemon and let Skarmory count as Flying, or get another Flying-type and let Skarmory count as Steel. Another possible thing I could say is: because it is Steel-type first according to the PokeDex, it is automatically counted as Steel. Let me know what you think of this.
Bug: Heracross or Pinsir. I think of going for Heracross, because it is Fighting-type aswell, giving me the opportunity of more types of moves. On the other hand, Blaziken is Fire/Fighting so it may also be unneccesary. Let me know what you think.
Ice: Walrein. I honestly I don't think I have a choice, since it is the strongest in the game (I assume) and I need it for all the Watertype HM's. Also, it is Ice/Water, which gives me a good advantage against Fire (especially with Thick Fat ability).
Flying: Altaria or Swellow. Ofcourse, it depends on what I'll do with Skarmory, but Altaria because it's high stats and it is Dragon/Flying, giving me more types of moves. Swellow because of it's amazing speed and earlier access in the game. Let me know what you think.
As I said, I find this a very difficult combination of types, but I personally think this team would be quite good. I am wondering what you think of this team; whether I should choose a different Pokemon instead. Or perhaps you want to give me tips, maybe give me a better look of the "ups and downs" I'll be facing with this team, etcetera. Looking forward to your opinion! ;)
