PBHasSpecies script question

    I have a question, is it possible to use the PBHasSpecies script, but instead of asking for a pokemon make it ask for an item? or is there a way to activate an event by having a certain item by another method that isn't activating a switch?
    I ask this because my game has mystery gift, and I want to activate an event by receiving an item.
