    Hey u guys shud have a site completely seperate site that tells people what PC's status is and like if it's down maybe give an estimate for the time it will take to get it back up. If you would like I could handle the site for you.

    Not really possible. The downtimes happen randomly, and last as long as either the server gets back up, or Steve and Kwesi restart it.
    Since no one can say when that happens, it's not possible to give an estimated time of how long the downtimes will last.

    Besides, such sites would be handled by the PC staff.

    OK 2 things:
    scizz: oh ok. I didn;t know that all you need to do for your server is restart it.
    chbaymaga: lol if u ask how to be a mod the real mods will devour your flesh

    Dumb idea. Then Steve and friends would have to spend even more money on their sites. Plus, it's not like PC is down every day. Why would we need it?

    Times aren't always reliable; if you put a time; do you mean ##:##, or ## min? Both can screw someone up; time isn't the same for everyone, and then, how many minutes from when?Second, what if the supposed time is 30min, but something else happens and it changes to 50? A lot of people will be on the next time it's up saying 'You said 30!!1!' and stuff like that. It's not like PC is down 24/7.

    true but in the past few days it's been goin down for a few minutes a couple times a day. hey maybe the server is overheating?

    A server doesn't overheat. It can overload though. XD;

    Even if we had the resources and time to dedicate to this project, it isn't exactly necessary. Our downtimes aren't planned, so we have no clue when they'll start or end, and you can keep yourself updated on PCs status by clicking the refresh button. oo;

    Trikip, watch it. If you want to say its a bad idea, go ahead. However, you have no right to speak to someone like that.

    you guys wouldn't have to waste time or money to do it u know. I said I could put it on my site. U'd just have to email me the info and i could take care of it for you. And obviously i dont mean when the server is down for a few min. I mean if it's gonna be down for like a couple hours or more for like an update or somethin'.

    What about changing the database error page to something like PC is down right now try coming back in a few mins? If it is there by default of vBulliten then just ignore that. If not then we could also have a timer for how long PC has been down. I mean, if your gonna have a page pop up almost everyday. Why not snaz it up a bit with Pokemon, and timers, and whatnot. Just my opinion.

    Lol good idea absolitude but the whole problem of a database error is well... it can't reach the database. I mean how could you have a page from the database tellin u can't see it? I think the database error page is a default thing that can't be changed.

    It's a default vBulletin error page, the database server is down or can't process your request, which is actually all you need to know that something is wrong and PC is not capable of operating.
    As it's been said, we don't know when, or for how long those downtimes will last, so giving an estimated time is impossible, which makes putting up a status page rather pointless, as it can only contain the same information as the vB error page, since we don't know more than it says there.

    I think everything's been said, so I'll put a lock on it, to prevent unnecessary repeating of things already mentioned.
