I know Pikachu is rare in Santalune Forest. I searched for many minutes, until I was finally able to encounter my first Pikachu. After I caught it, I closed my 3DS and had dinner.

At around 9pm, I went back to my game to train my newly caught Pikachu. However, to my surprise, another Pikachu appeared! What else could I do, but catch it? What are the chances, right?

Well, after catching it, another Pikachu appeared. And another....and another. This went on for another 20 fights. There would be some Weedle's and Caterpie's in between, but around 15/20 were Pikachu's. It was one after the other!! I have caught all Pikachu's encountered. I have 3 in my party, and the 12 are in Box 1. I haven't even gotten past the forest yet.

    Is this a glitch?
Does Pikachu's ability "Static" attract more Pikachu encounters?
Does catching more of a certain Pokemon raise the encounter rate for the same Pokemon?
Does Pikachu appear more often at 9pm?

I think I may have discovered something new here.

Yes static increases the chances of pikachu appearing for you. That is all. Nothing else really spectacular goin on there

Damn it, I should've figured. I just read Static's description now. Thanks man

Yeah, I even remember something similar to this for catching Ralts since it is so rare (at first). But I think the Ralts trick was even trickier. Something like, sync in first pokemon slot and static in the third. I can't confirm, but I recall reading something to that effect.

If your lead pokemon has the ability static it makes finding Electric Type pokemon easier. Other abilities like this include Magnet Pull for steel types, Suction Cups while fishing, and Compoundeyes for Pokemon holding Items.
