    I'm a little confused with some of the cards. Take this Lucario card for example.
    Where it says Aura Sphere, 40 damage, and below that (10 damage to a benched Pokemon). Do you decide whether or not which damage you inflict or does it 40 on the defending Pokemon and 10 on a benched one?

    For reference.

    The attack always does the specified number AND the effect unless the text explicity specifies. So it does 40 damage to the Defending Pokémon and you choose 1 of the opponent's Benched Pokémon to do 20 damage to.
     
    Thank you ... I think I may be over complicating this game. Although I have to say, I can honestly see the appeal.
