Please Reconmended a challenging pokemon game

For some reason I wanted to play my pokemon games and get into it all again. However, I found my Gold and Yellow to be extremely disappointing; they are way too easy! The attacks are random, the opponents all use the same type(most anyway) and put simply there is no difficulty behind the games whatsoever. The funnest part in Yellow(which I did replay) was the first gym(Brock) and the Elite 4, since that was mildly difficult(ironically more so Brock)

I understand that these games are designed for 7 year olds so I can't complain about the game itself, just they are not for me. Are there any difficult mods out there? I would really love a game that had some sort of intelligent AI with more challenging opponents than "Bug Catcher/ Bird Keeper/etc" and perhaps, although I may be asking to much, gym battles that are actually creatively difficult.

Are there any mods out there that are like this? I tried to look at the individual mods but non specify game difficulty.....

I already have but I have never played any generations from gold above so I'm not familiar with the pokemon. I wanted to learn them through single player but thought that the new games would be too easy, and hence boring. + I'd really like to relieve the single player experience


EDIT: So are you basically saying that no such mod exists?

Ok then, is there any mod that is mildly difficult? I have been told that Soul Silver is much harder than the other games, is this true?

If you are looking for "mods" check out the hack section, but I doubt you'll find what you are looking for.
Some games in this section are also good if you wanna try them. (Most of them are still in Beta stages but games like Raptor are complete)

I played platinum and it seemed like it had a better AI so you might wanna check it out. My cousin says that even HG and SS were competitive to some extent. (as far as the AI is concerned)
Certainly harder than the old games, but were still easy.

Game development is for unofficial "fan games" not the official games like R/B/G/Y etc etc.

You can't move it yourself, you'll have to create a new thread.

This forum is awfully confusing. Those links do not seem to be what I am looking for. I posted it in the emulation section, hopefully that is correct.

And for some very annoying reason none of my threads that I create seem to work. Sigh

This is the game development section.
Games are created by Game developers here using tools like RPG MAKER XP and the rest of the series.
If you want to play one of these fan games, go into the Game Showcase sub section and look for Raptor.
It is the only fully completed game on this section of the board.
