How on Earth does it work? I keep trying to use it in grass or near grass and I keep getting that message "Rowan's words echo through your ears.." or whatever.

As stated, you must be WALKING to use it, don't feel dumb though =P It took me like 4 days after getting it to realize it, along with the Vs. Seeker :/

I also don't think it works in every field. There have been patches of grass that it wouldn't work in and I wasn't on a bike.

Ok, has anyone noticed that some patches the russel sparkle?
My mate was telling me that if it does this, it is 5x more likly to get a shiny. Now is this true? I can't fine anything about it.

Sometimes no Pokémon is found (in very small patches of grass), it laso only work in the "standard" grass not in the high one or anywhere else.

Some people say that the chance of getting a shiny increases if you get a bigger Pokémon chain.
The special sparkling spots often hold rare Pokémon, if there is a shiny in thne grass, the sparkle will look a little bit different than the normal sparkling ones.
You can see how it looks on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvLAz_PrY94 (at about 0:53)

Wow thats awsome. Thanks man, that helps. But could you explain to me what the chains are please? I can never understand it!

Well, when you use the radar and encounter a Pokémon and either catch it or defeat it, you'll be able to encounter the same Pokémon again. The grass will rustle again right after the battle. Walk into the patch furthest away which has also got the same rustle like the patch you walked into before and you've got a big chance of encountering it again. If you do, you chain gets bigger.
You can do this again and again, but there might also be a chance to encounter a different Pokémon which will interrupt the chain.

Ahhhh i see, thanks for explaning this too me! Very helpful. I shall not bother you with another PM :D
    Thanks again!

However once you do get a REALLY high chain (40+) make sure you have some max repels. use one and use the pokeradar. If a shiny grass rustle isnt found go to a area in the grass where there were ABSOLUTELY no rustles. Recharge your pokeradar there. If you by Chance DO see a shiny patch of grass go to it Repel will still let you run into rustling pokemon. Hence the pokeradar DOES improve your chance of finding a shiny (there are other videos on youtube of this. You cant understand what this guy did because its in japanese but as you can tell by the little picture he had ALOT of max repels and he kept going to an area where there werent any rustles to recharge his pokeradar.)

Awsome, thanks for the advice, ha ha i have just highjacked this thread! Sorry Legacy! My bad! ^^

Just as a note for Legacy: You actually have to be INSIDE the grass patches for it to work. Using it nearby the patches won't work whatsoever.

yea I'm doing it now and I ran into a Kricketot can you find them south of Jublife town?

    :t354:Queen Boo~*!*~

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. But where are the best places to go do you think? Like places where there are low leveled pokemon?

Thanks for the pointers, kinda feel a bit stupid for not realising it myself. XD

Garra, you can find both Nidorans in Route 201. But I think that's all from the National Dex there.
