Just because you don't like the anime or outgrew it doesn't mean "the writers will mess them up severely somehow."
For the record, He DOES Like the anime. Otherwise, He would hate everything about it, even season 1. Also, he didn't outgrow it. If he did, why is he on here? Just because you feel there's no flaws with the current anime and stubbornly refuse any doesn't mean that we Hate the anime.
With D/P selling 15 million copeis and Platinum breaking sales records, the box office releases in Japan being smash successes, and the good ratings it's getting as posted in the thread, it's safe to say that anybody boycotting Pokemon is not really that much of a concern.
Hey, Tea was also a successful sale in Britain and Global during the 1700's, and the last time I checked, we were quite successful in boycotting that when we boycotted Great Britain during the Revolutionary War (They actually perceived us as a threat because of that, and believe me, We were actually the least of their concerns in regards to Tea [now, if this boycott was somewhere in, oh I don't know, India, since that was the main production center of Tea and British Goods, that would be the worst case scenario of Britain.].).
On that note, anybody actually boycotting Pokemon is pretty much breaking their boycott whenever they visit a fan site. When you boycott something, you don't associate with it at all. And these sites serve to promote (aspects of) the franchise. Visting here is being part of something one s supposedly boycotting.
Ok, here's the REAL definition of "Boycott":
Textbook Definition: Boycott: Protest in the form of a refusal to buy, including attempts to convince others to join.
This is my economics textbook definition of a Boycott. Nowhere does it say that you can't associate it at all, it just says you don't buy anything in regards to it. If it truly encompasses not associating with it at all, it would have stated this in the definition in the textbook as well.
For the record, the textbook in question is "Glencoe ECONOMICS Principles and Practices"
So, those of us aren't breaking the boycott in that sense by posting on Fan sites.
Besides, trying to abstain from all of it isn't a good idea of protest since, if we don't associate it to a certain extent, we won't know if we succeeded or not.
I can't "give up" Facebook by starting a "Let's boycott Facebook" club on Facebook.
Big difference, Facebook is only a website, so you definitely can't do something like that on there. Pokemon, on the other hand, is Video Games, Toys, an Anime, Board Games, TGCs, and Mangas.
They aren't vague. Just becasue you don't know how the Nielsan ratings systems works doesn't invalidate the facts it presents. Not everyone in the US has a Nielsen box, but they're designed based on proportional representation to get pretty precise figures.
Hasn't algebra taught you anything yet? In order for things to be accurate, you HAVE to have exactness. Estimates are only guesses which, while close, are not Exact (exactness implies that it's absolutely, undeniably this, whileas estimates/approximations are for the most part right, but not always set in stone.).
That's Japan. I don't know how they do ratings in Japan. Nielsen ratings are what's used in the United States.
Well, I suggest you try and learn how, because sometimes, you may have to be wrong in order to learn.
And the week after, it's listed. As is the week before. And the week before that. And then it appears again on March 5's article.
Hey, if it's not mentioned in any week aside from this, this WOULD be bad news for the Anime.
If the creators of any franchise listened to the endless whining on Internet Fan sites, they'd never get anything done. You've also yet to tell me how this mythical audience of 18+ would come flocking back to a kids' show if basically the Kanto cast were re-instated.
The mere fact that many of them actually signed petitions even saying that they'll return when Misty returns would be evidence enough that it would bring others back.
EDIT: Another thing, your definition of a Boycott is more in line with the term "Embargo" than a Boycott, as stated in my Economics class. Heck, I asked my Economics teacher and he said that Boycotts only restricted people from buying products from a company/corporation.
