Pokémon: Online
This is just a thread to discuss the idea of a possible Pokémon MMORPG that COULD work.
All suggestions and discussion appreciated although try to make you posts relevant - no posts that just say
"cool i <3 pokémon games - i would play this"
Try to give actual ideas and features you would like to see - or discuss mentioned ideas etc...
This is just a what-if style thread - afaik there is no official Pokémon MMORPG in the works but you never know what Nintendo have up their tricky sleeves!

Character Creation
This would be the most important part of the game in terms of knowing what your going to be doing for the remainder.
Ofcourse there will be battling, collecting badges and the likes -> but who wants to be doing the same thing as everyone else...of course choice quests will help differentiate each gamers experience from another - but what about the finer things....this would be in the form of something similar to Classes in generic MMORPGS with a difference.
You would not be locked to one solid Class...that would be boring and un-Pokémon like.
You create your characters base stats.
You have your 5 Main attributes
Intellect
Dexterity
Charisma
Wits
Perception
Intellect
This would determine things like:
- Ability to level your Pokémon - a higher intellect will give x% bonus XP
- Able to teach your Pokémon TMs and HMs at a faster rate
- Adds bonuses to the Breeder and Researcher Talents
- Increases the efficiency of your battling - extra PP for moves
This would determine things like:
- How well you train your Pokémon for Competitions
- Bonus Speed boost when using Mounts
- Bike Speed Bonus %
- Increases % for catching Pokémon
- Crafting items with less time taken (Pokéballs, Antidotes etc)
Charisma
This would determine things like:
- How much your Pokémon like you
- Affects the chances of capturing some Pokémon drastically
- Affects NPC trades for items, Pokémon and ingame dialogue options with NPCs
- Various other bonuses
This would determine things like:
- Your Pokémon's turns in battles - such as going first - by adding a bonus to your Pokémon's speed etc
- Your characters ability to research Pokémon and gain extra data from studying them - such as - Certain moves that can be taught depending on your characters abilities to see the potential in a Pokémon
- Affects breeding - higher % to breed a Pichu with Volt Tackle for example
- Less of a chance of your character being randomly attacked by wild Pokémon - (reduces aggro area so you don't pull them constantly)
This would determine things like:
- A higher % of coming across Shiny Pokémon
- A higher chance of coming across rare Pokémon
- A higher % to find rare and uncommon items around the map
- At a high level - being able to determine the gender of a Pokémon making catching the right gender for breeding a lot easier
Then you would select your Starter Town out of the Four Regions which would determine the available Pokémon at the start of the game.
You would then finish off your Character by defining his/her starting appearance.
For example
- 15 Hair Styles for each gender
- 5 Body types for each gender
- Kid, Teen, Adult body builds
- Thin, Average, Heavy, Fat - slider bar for weight
- Small, Medium, Tall - slider bar for height
- 8 Different clothing styles for each gender with mix and match apparel and a color picker for all items.
- Race selection (skin color)
- Eye Color
- Nose Type
- Miscellaneous -> facial hair, glasses, sun glasses, jewlery, make up etc
Then you would spawn in the Professor's Lab where a small animated sequence would play where you recieve your Pokémon.
Thats when you start out on your journey.
