Well I mentioned this very briefly in my first post on here when saying hi.

And indeed, here is what we have so far!

    - The name of the hack is going to be Pokémon: Night Shadows.

    - It is a hack of Pokémon FireRed Version.

    - No new Pokémon, keeping things original!

    - Johto starters available at the start

    - A new region designed completely from scratch

    - New storylines, and sub-stories to keep you busy

    - A Top Secret plot for the latter part of the game

    - and much more!

    A brief summary:
With the exception of Pokémon ShinyGold Version (easily the best hack/beta I've seen and can't wait until its completion - nearly there don't give up!), the Johto starters have been very underated - so this game will have those as the available starters. The Kanto and Hoenn starters will feature in the game, but how they will do so is yet to be decided. Worry not, as they won't be stupidly snuck into a random route for example! ;)

With this being a FireRed hack, we will have access to the first 386 Pokémon to use. We are hopefully going to try and include as many of the 386 Pokémon as possible (upto Deoxys as this isn't a Diamond/Pearl hack). Before anyone sighs and wags the finger thinking we're going to overdo the legendaries, don't panic - we are at the very most wanting to have a sub-area available after the main bulk of the game (either after 8 badges earned or after you become the Pokémon League Champion, again yet to be decided) with a few islands and...well the rest you'll have to wait and see!

The only negative you might be able to find with this proposed hack plan is that it will have a Gym Challenge in it still, with 8 badges to obtain before entering the Pokémon League. But with it involving a brand new region I'm hoping it will bode well with the rest of the game.

I don't want to reveal too much more myself, so I shall pass on to Aaron, one of two other people helping out at present. At the moment, it is just myself, Onataria and Aaron_Brocklebank involved. But I will be the first to admit that we aren't the most experienced of hackers.

Once Aaron has posted his two cents worth, feedback will obviously be welcomed and helpful. But then we will be wanting to make a good start on this hack, by which we will be requiring a few helpful hands on board to make it a successful hack.

One more thing to mention - I am a dedicated perfectionist - GRAMMATICAL AND SPRITE/TILE FAILURES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE! :pirate:

Hi guys, I'm Aaron, and I'm working with Big-Davey and Onataria in the process of this hack. We've been on this idea for a while now, so here, take a look:

    Basic Plot:
Without giving too much away, here is what is in the story.
At the beginning of the game, you move in with your siblings, of which you're triplets, your father and step-mother. You have never seen your real mother since your birth. Your dad, and his sick Bagon set off on a journey to find a cure. That's all I'm telling you...

To be honest, this game's storyline looks at the more social/realistic side of life...

    Starter Pokémon:
Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile. Sidenote: These were very underused in the hacks we've read on this forum.

    Main Pokémon in the game:
Absol, Celebi, and maybe a few others, we haven't decided

    Map?
Yes, we've created a map. Unfortunately, we created this before D/P was released, so route numbers will follow as such.

    Have we begun the project?
No, we haven't. None of us three know how to hack a pokemon game, so we're hoping to get a team of hackers to work with us and create this hack. We'd be really greatful if you could help us create our hacks.

    Regards, Aaron, Davey, Onataria.

Me and Onataria have basic hacking tools (AdvanceMap etc) and we've merely been messing about with some ideas for town layouts.

In my dream world I would have loved to include aspects from both Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and FireRed/LeafGreen but seeing as they clash rather epically, we'll only be using FireRed/LeafGreen unless there are a couple of tiles from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald that would actually work well with.

I can easily come up with a basic script, but when it comes to the actual scripting of a hack, that is where I am stumped as I have never done such task.

New sprites are a must, again I have no experience with. Any suggestions would be brilliant.

Me and Aaron will try and get some screenies up for the ideas for towns, to at least provide a rough idea of what we're planning.

I've been reading elsewhere in this section about "everyone's hack" etc, I just want to make it clear that although we're ideally looking for a fair few helping hands, surely that's half the fun with making a hack.

I mean I'd love to include in the credits, several different (user)names instead of just a few, you know? Anyway, I'm waffling! *goes off to do screenies*

Make a list of what you need help with, and people may join. Overall, it sounds like it could be good to play when fnished.

OK if I'm really honest, the only thing we have at the moment is a good solid storyline to build a game on. So whether it be an actual game (which would take forever!) or a hack, we're gonna need people on board that can help with all kinds of things.

    Someone good with Sprites
Someone good with AdvanceMap (and to change the World Map as well)
    Someone good with Scripting
    Someone good with Title Editing

Pretty much people that can make this solid storyline into reality in a hack. So if it has to stay basic, then we can easily use the FireRed tiles etc but if we want to make the most of this, it might be worth also having someone on board who can design new tiles.

As for the music, any of the music that already exists would be fine to go into this game, but should there be anyone out there who could offer anything new to the hack then by all means submit them.

I've been planning all kinds of things for a hack for years but never been able to kick off from the ground about it...I'd love to be able to finally do something about it.

    1) We have come up with a name of the region: Seihoku

    2) We have come up with random names for cities and destinations which can very easily be changed at a later stage:
    - Blackcliff Town (starting town)
    - Coldview Village
    - Grainhike City
    - Grainhike Road (the first cave linking from Grainhike Road to the first Gym town)
    - Southley Forest (Gym Town #1, Grass; yes we've never had a 'Forest' as a town but it will have many many trees around the town similar to Fortree City, but we wanted to give it a unique touch to it)
    - Faymere Town (Gym Town #2, Rock)
    - Rosefox Grange (Gym Town #3, Flying)
    - Moorwald Town (Gym Town #4, Poison)
    - Rocky Path (a small cave leading back to the starting town which you need to pass through to get back)
    - Mt. Sienna (a pass-through cave to reach the other section of the map)
    - Icehaven City (Gym Town #5, Ice)
    - Wheatcliff Port (Gym Town #6, Water; it says it in the name, this will be the port town with the boat access that will later on in the game take you to the legendary areas)
    - Shadowshore City (Gym Town #7, Fire)
    - Glassacre Island (Gym Town #8, Dragon)
    - Foxshore Town (a normal town joining the latter section of the region back to the original)

Then Victory Road will continue its amazing record of appearances before you approach the Seihoku Summit; home of the League.
