PokéCommunity Presents, TheSpeedGamers Pokemon Retro Marathon for Charity

TheSpeedGamers (TSG) will be hosting a Pokemon Marathon this month, and we want you guys to watch and support this event

TSG is hosting another Pokemon Retro Marathon starting on Thursday, December 17 at 6pm central. they will be raising money for the charities supported by the Rocking H Ranch. The Rocking H Ranch has hosted their marathons since 2010, and TSG is proud to be gaming for them this December.

Any help/promotion for this event would be greatly appreciated. Let's all get into the Christmas (Holiday) spirit and do what we can here.

The marathon will be streamed at twitch.tv/TheSpeedGamers with live commentary and gameplay. All catches will be done on-stream.

As far as the gameplay goes, they will be playing Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal on the original cartridges with the goal of catching the first two generations of Pokemon in less than 72 hours. There will also be hidden stretch goals, such as unlocking another day of the marathon, adding the generation 3 games, a Pokemon Snap run, a Nuzlock run of Pokemon Red, and more!

The supported charities include Backpacks for Kids, the Tara Sawyer Foundation, Trent's Retreat Nonprofit Foundation, and Paws for Reflection.

I don't think we could have scripted a better marathon. We had tons of excitement surrounding the gameplay and most importantly we raised over $16,300 for the Rocking H Ranch. It was very fun interacting with the chat throughout and the Pokemon and twitch communities were very supportive. We could not have done this marathon without all of the support and it was so exciting to pull off. With the feedback from previous marathons we made some changes to the Pokethon that I think gave us an extra boost. There are additional changes to our formula that we will be trying out during our upcoming week long summer event. Up next is our Summer Zelda Marathon which is tentatively scheduled to start June 24, 2016. We will also be doing a Metroid minithon led by Jagger in the very near future.
