Prologue
Spoiler:
He descended slowly from the dark heavens, lit briefly by the flashes of lightning that accompanied the ever-present rain. Though he barely stood out, you could spot him if you knew where to look. And he had come many times before.
Always bearing the tidings of failure.
The figure slowed as he neared the ground, gliding towards an opening in the face of a cliff. There, a second figure sat, leaning back against the rock wall, his attendant standing silently beside him.
(The hero has perished.)
The second figure shook his head and sighed. He looked up at the first.
[How did this one die?]
(Decapitation.)
The second grit his teeth, but otherwise did not move.
[Better than… better than the previous hero.]
(Better, yes. But still painful and still tragic.)
The first figure lowed himself to the ground, until he was level with the second. He stared into his companion's eyes.
(I can only bring one more.)
[Oh.]
(I must go. This is our only chance.)
[None of the others were the answer.]
(They-)
[We found the strongest soldiers, the best trainers, and the smartest professors. We brought the cunning, the creative, the pure, the destined, and the damned. None of them were the answer. They all failed.]
(Then we'll find one who will succeed. One who embodies all of those qualities and more.)
[Is… is that possible?]
(I believe there is a way.)
A silence hung between the two figures.
(It is time to go.)
The first turned to the second.
(Brother, though I leave, know that I always love you.)
[I… You…]
[Goodbye.]
The first nodded and smiled. Then soared skywards, allowing the dark thundering clouds to engulf him.
The second stared up into the storm, though his brother was no longer visible. He ignored the heavy drops of rain that fell upon him. Such inconveniences did not compare to the throbbing pain that eternally haunted him.
Finally, he closed his eyes.
"Take me inside," he said, his voice barely audible above the downpour.
It was audible enough. His attendant, one of the last of his friends and followers, shuffled forward and slowly picked him up, carrying him into the cave.

What is PokeDark?
PokeDark is an Interactive Adventure where people can direct the progress and outcome of a story through suggestions. These commands guide the actions of the hero of the story and how he or she interacts with the world.
This particular world, however, is not all rainbows and sunshine. It's the world of Pokemon, yes, but there is something very wrong here. Where are the Pokemon? What happened to the humans? And just what lies beyond the limits of your vision? What you find may be dark and horrifying.
How do I Participate?
PokeDark is a livestream adventure, which means that commands are submitted in real time through a chat. On the stream, I will read the commands and interpret the hero's actions based on what you send. You can find the livestream here.
Please note that you must have a Twitch account in order to post in the chat.
When are the Sessions?
The first session of the adventure will take place on Saturday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern. [Click here to easily find the event time in you time zone]. The session will last about one hour, but may go a bit longer depending on what happens.
Every Saturday afterwards, at the same time, I will host a session to continue the adventure. The adventure ends when you successfully complete the story or die.
What if I miss a Session?
I understand! People lead busy lives. Don't worry, if you miss an episode, you can watch a recording of the stream on my YouTube channel. I hope to have the recordings up within a day of the stream, but please forgive me if I'm a little late!
