Opening Day
(see thread in development section)
(see thread in development section)
Closed for years, the National Pokemon Academy sat ruined, the dusty shell of a once great academy. Due to recent technologies such as the Pokedex and Pokenav, most trainers needed little education, which they were able to get from their region's Pokemon school. The Serei (name isn't final yet) region was soon under-populated, and soon forgotten by most people. A travelling man by the name of Arden Nix, saw the ruins while travelling, and bought the run down building. He wanted to create strong trainers, but knew that attracting new students would be difficult. He found teachers who would not only teach the basics of being a Pokemon Trainer, but would also teach many to become a Pokemon Breeder, Ranger, or even the newly popularized Coordinator. He expanded the building, being quite rich, and opened the doors to trainers from all regions, from all places.
It was a failure at the complete beginning. No one lived in the region, and it was hard to convince anyone to move here, so what to do? The solution was obvious. What attracts trainers? Gyms! With an o.k. from the National Pokemon League, he set to work constructing the standard eight gyms and the elite four building. The problem was, who would be the leaders? He asked his staff. Eight teachers became the new Gym Leaders, and no one is quite sure who he chose to be the elite four.
(This paragraph is if you are playing the trainer mode. Stories will be different for the different paths) The peaceful village of Arata didn't have many inhabitants, and thus news spread quickly. A rumor passed that the nearby town of Kaihin on the northern seashore was having a special event to celebrate the opening of something. You, having just turned 10, wanted to check it out. Your parents weren't too keen on the idea, and refused to let you go. What to do? Sneaking out in the middle of the night, you traveled the route that led to the town. People were out and about in the middle of the night, and wondering what was going on, you saw a parade marching down the street, advertising a new school that had opened up. The crowd was quite thick, and you found yourself jostled up and down the sidewalk until you found yourself in a part of town you didn't know. The people were thick all along the main road, so you went into a nearby alley to get around them back to the path to Arata. A low growl issued from some nearby trashcans, and being the novice you were, you went to investigate. There was a crash as the trashcan fell over and an angry looking Mankey rushed you! You ducked as it jumped at you, when a shot of bright purple light enveloped the Mankey. "Watch out", you heard a voice cry as the Mankey fell to the ground and ran off. You turned to thank your savior, and saw a boy around your age wearing a black jacket with a black pokeball, and a Ralts hovering by his side. "Are you okay?" he asked as you straightened up, and when you nodded, he said, "It's good to be careful in the city. Lots of wild Pokemon like to live here where they can root through trash cans. Don't you have a Pokemon?" You shook your head, and he continued. "Then if you're old enough, you should come to the newly opened Pokemon Academy. My father is the headmaster, and he opened it up, at a quite hefty price tag. However, if I say you're with me, you could get in free. All new trainers will recieve a starter Pokemon for themselves. Interested? Take this". He handed you a pamphlet, and walked off before you could ask him any more questions. Opening the pamphlet, you saw a bright photograph of a tall building, with large statues at the front. Scribbled on the pamphlet were the words, "Interested trainers should meet me at the front gates on the start of the Celestial holiday". That holiday was tomorrow! You rushed home, knowing your parents would be angry but excited at this opportunity.
That's the story of the Pokemon MMO I am developing. I don't have much interest yet, but if you would like to check the main thread for more details or want to critique the story here, then go ahead. I'm welcome to any constructive advice or offers to help. Screenshots will be avaible once I find myself a mapper. I'm not good at that myself, my maps always turn out unoriginal looking.
