Hello there guys, how are you all?
I am very pleased and proud that my first post in this forum is to hopefully entertain the lovely people here with my new and yet first and only Pokemon game; Pokemon - Akenite Version!

Firstly I'd just like to clarify that I don't like this name, and would love to hear alternative ideas. :)

    Anyway, onto the initial details...

    Pokemon Akenite Version:
    Engine: RPG Maker 2003
Region(s): At the moment just concentrating on a custom region (Triago), although brief visits to Kanto are included. Will most probably include another custom region once this one is complete.
Pokemon: Just going for the original 151 at present with one or two custom legendaries which are imperative to the story. Once again, will most likely add to this as the development progresses.

    Team:
    Me - Everything
    My friend - Beta Tester

As you can see, my team isn't very expansive, nor do I wish it to be for the time being. But we'll see how it goes...

Now onto the juicy bits! :D

    === Story ===
The story starts on the day our young hero (default name - Kyran) will recieve his first pokemon from Kanto's resident pokemon Professor; Prof Oak. Not long after Kyran sets out on his adventure does he recieve a phone call from Prof Oak, who invites him on a trip to the Triago region.
Oak meets with Prof Acorn to discuss newly found evidence of an extremely powerful pokemon that has been long forgotten by the history of man.
Meanwhile, Kyran journeys around the Triago region, on his way to becoming a Pokemon Master.
    But mysterious things are happening...

Caught up in the midst of a ferocious Clan War, while trying to solve the mystery of Professor Oak's kidnapping, Kyran discovers more about himself and his past than he would like. With puzzling clues scattered all across the world, which of them are connected to his long lost father, and which are connected to this new legendary pokemon?

    === Features ===

New Region - A fully custom region, larger and more 'free-roaming'.

Reputation System - As seen with many other fangames, a system which defines how your character is treated, and numerous other things.

Clan System - Join a clan of your choosing, help them win battles and tournaments, gain fan support and more members, and move upwards through the clan, to eventually become the leader.

Trainer Growth - There's no rest for the restless. Unfortunately, the hero is no longer the only character who's pokemon can grow. Now each trainer has his/hers own personal growth rate for their pokemon to get stronger.

Fun Gyms - No gym is the same, and each has it's own rules. Some require the completion of a certain mini-game or task, some just don't allow certain types of pokemon, whereas some just go all out with their pokemon doing all the talking. [Metaphorically speaking ;) ]

Free-Roam - No more sticking to certain routes or completing random tasks just to go where you want to go. Almost total Free-Roam allows you to go to wherever you want, when you want.

12 Gyms - You still only need 8, but you get your pick. But then again, why stop there? Why not go all out and get all of them? It's your choice.

Phone and Radio system - Much like Gold and Silver versions.

Day/Night System - Much like your average Day/Night system, with some pokemon only available to catch/evolve at certain times, or events only being available at some times, etc.

Clan Tournaments - Participate in these tournaments to earn Clan Points (CP) which can be used in the Pokemon Trade Market (PTM).

Pokemon Trade Market - Only available for clan members. Buy, sell or trade pokemon over the PTM, using Clan Points as the currency. Pokemon aquired over the PTM can only be used within the clan, and within clan events.

DayCare System - Your normal daycare system mostly similar to that of the recent games.

Characterisation and Story Development - As well as including the usual pokemon theme, this game actually has a story, one which has many twists, turns and mysteries to solve.

Wireless Computer Access - Access your item storage on the move. Requires the battery to be charged, which can be done at any pokemon centre.

So that's it for now. :(
In closing I'd like to say that I've seen so many unfinished fangames just float away into nothingness and that I do not intend for this to happen with this game. I'm not going to promise that this will be finished, as I'm no Isaac Mendez (if you understood that, PM me and we can chat), but I will promise to try my hardest to make this game go as far as it possibly can.

    Thank you for your time.

    Speak soon.

    Thanks Bruno.

Ok, so not much publicity at the moment, but that's alright. Hopefully as the game progresses, more interest will gather, but for now I'll just keep my head down. At present there's not much that my game is offering which seperates itself from the mass of fangames in production here. Maybe if I try and get a small demo out by the end of the week, just up until the first major town or something.

Yeah, I'll try and get a demo out this week, but in the meantime, here's some more screenshots.

From now on I'll give a progress report per day (unless circumstances prevent it) so that people know what's been/being done, what's needed to do, and that I'm still working on this game. If there's no post seperating the days, I'll just edit the previous post, rather than double-posting, so keep an eye out for that.

    Progress Report(s):
    Friday 25th May:
Almost completely overhauled the current battle system with new graphics.
Created pokemon party screen for in-battle. Now able to switch pokemon in-battle, but not yet able to view stats.
    Started creating pokemon stats screens.

So ends today's update. Hope to hear more feedback within the next few days. I'll update again tomorrow, with a few screenies, including the new battle system.
    Tara for now.

Your game is getting quiet interesting and very good i hope you can finish it. You will get all my support!
    Cya, Bruno

    Thanks guys.
I will try my very best to finish this game, and finish it to the best of my ability.
I'm setting myself realistic goals for now, and just plan to include the original 151, but as the game progresses I'll more than likely include the Johto pokemon at least, and then we'll see how we go from there.

Looks pretty sweet so far, keep it goin and good luck.

Not bad looking. I see you're using RPGmaker 2003. The only real thing that irks me is the dis-coloration of most of the games inner-graphics. I suggest using programs that lower the quality of colors without distorting them so much. Other than that, I'm sure you'll pull together a fine Poke'mon project. Have fun with it.

    ~Sion

I'd suggest you need an improved tileset - the colours look a bit off and using a gym for Oak's lab is kinda weird.

Apart from that, it looks very interesting! Some of your ideas are really cool ;)
Best of luck with this one!

Hey guys, thanks for the encouraging and constructive posts. I'll try to take any advice on board, and use it improve my game.
    So here's today's screenshots.

Improved Pallet Town - I've used the actual correct houses, and changed some tiles.

Pokegear Region Map Select Screen - Try saying that 5 times fast when drunk. ;)

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

Blank Stats Screen Page 1 - Haven't finished coding the info just yet, only just finished making the graphic.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

Blank Stats Screen Page 2 - Same as above. No coding, just graphic.

Ok, now onto the daily update.

    Progress Report(s):
    Saturday 26th May:
Edited some tilesets and changed Pallet Town and Route 1 a bit.
Futhered the story along a bit more, now ready to travel to custom region.
Made the graphics for the first two pages of Pokemon Stats Screens.
Started coding the Pokemon Stats Screens.

That's all for tonight. Thanks again for the positive and constructive replies. Until tomorrow, goodnight.

The game is looking great so far.
I love seeing more RM2k3 games.
We users of RM2k3 are a dying breed lol....

Your updates seem really consistent which is another thing great to see.

Anyways, Looking good so far and I wish you good look with it.
I'll keep checking up on this game ;)

Thanks Neo. I still can't get over the fact that you and Fangking have even taken notice of my game because your games (and a few others) were what inspired me to make mine. :D

Ok, now I've gotten that off my chest, I just wanted to say that I am really thick.
    Everyone got that? Lol.

I previously said that I was going to try and release a small demo towards the end of this week (as in Thursday/Friday 'ish). I was thinking earlier that perhaps I should get a beta tester or two first.
In my beginning post I titled my friend as a beta tester whereas that isn't exactly true. He has no knowledge of making games whatsoever, and just has a quick look at anything 'cool looking' I've made since his last visit to my house.

So yeah, anyone who may want to be a beta tester, either PM me or reply. Thanks.

One more thing... I hate asking for things, but I'm going to anyway. If anybody just so happens to suddenly feel like making a banner for this game, then that would be brilliant. :D
But I would request it to include the following sprite.
    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

Thanks so much in advance to anyone willing to do this.
Now, I know what some people are thinking...
Oh how cliche, another Armored Mewtwo. How boring!
But I'd like to explain that this game has so many amazing (I say amazing, because they actualy have depth, purpose, etc, unlike the official pokemon games) storylines that are all intwined with one another, that nothing is cliche and everything has reason, purpose, motive and is connected. Armored Mewtwo is not one of the largest focal points in the game, but I thought it'd be good to put into a banner, as it doesn't spoil much.

This post was a little longer than I expected, especially considering I still got my daily update to come shortly.

so yeah, that's all I got to say for right now. :P

    *************************************
    UPDATE!!!
    *************************************

    Time for today's updates. :D
Originally I wasn't going to include any screenshots as most of the things I've done today have been coding-related, which haven't allowed for much screenshot potential. Then I took a break and made the Day/Night System, although it should be called Morning/Day/Afternoon/Evening/Night System, lol. Then I added weather effects to the system, and made the first town of my custom region. So looks like your all going to get some screenies afterall. :D

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

A little bit of rain on Route 001 (Kanto).

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

    Evening on Route 001.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

    Nightime rain in Pallet Town.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

    Afternoon on Route 001.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Akenite Version

    Linlea Town.

I might not have got the best screenshots of the times of day, as its more of gradual change of tone throughout the day.
Lights for different houses come on at different times, instead of all at once.
So that's it for today! I am so knackered, lol. I had to do a lot of 'odd jobs' today, including re-painting my kitchen which took forever. I can't wait to collapse onto my bed. I'll just leave you with the daily update. Goodnight.

    Progress Report(s):
    Sunday 27th May:
Did a lot of random coding here and there.
    Made a Day/Night System.
    Addedd Weather effects.
    Made Linlea Town.
Took all the storylines out of my head, and put them onto paper. [Which I've already lost, lol.]

This game actually does look very nice ;)

ideas are pretty cool, i do like the battle system, and even the pokemon statistics cards look nice :)

oh, and also, that Bulbasaur in the very last screen shot looks HUGE!! He's bigger than that kid :P

just another game i'll be watching though, let's see if it's one that gets completed ;)

Hey people, luckily it's a shorter post from me tonight, which means a lot less blubber and a little more fat.
I'd like to start off by saying I have no idea what I just said. Blubber? Fat? :\

Anyways, I'd like to re-introduce the Pokemon Akenite Team to you all:
    Me - Everything
    Bruno1440 - Beta Tester

    There we go!
So Bruno is now the official Beta Tester which means I won't need anymore for the time being. The game is not yet at the stage to warrant more testers (in my opinion).

Not many screenshots today, in-fact there's just one.

    Screenshot:

What the Bag Screen will look like. There will be more icons on the left as I add those pages.
Credit to Bruno for changing the general layout.

I also have some bad news tonight. It's possible the first demo will be postponed by a few days. It all depends on whether I can finish the remaining coding in the major systems in time.
The first demo will not last very long. It's purpose is just for you to gather your first impressions of the game, and to decide whether you like the systems, graphics, etc.

So finishing up, here's the updates.

    Progress Report(s):
    Monday 28th May:
Did a bit more coding on the stats screens.
Made most of the graphics for the Bag System.
Done about half the coding for the Bag System.
Chatted with my new beta tester.
And found the pieces of paper I lost yesterday.

So that's it for now. My mum's back in work tomorrow, which means piece and quiet, so lots of updates tomorrow night, hopefully. ... I just realised my dads off of work tomorrow, there goes my peace and quiet :disappoin .
    I'm rambling again. Lol.
    Goodnight.

PS: I think I will make that Bulbasaur smaller. [See above post.]

    Looks allright.
    Not my thing though :(

Awsome great updates! As i said to you, i hope u can continue your game and dont give up on it! Good luck im here to help u in anything!
    Cya, Bruno.

    Hey.

I'm in a really big rush tonight. I've spent so much time on the game, that I didn;t leave enough time to do my update. So I'll have to do one first thing in the morning. Sorry about that.

See you guys bright and early.
    Goodnight.

    Hey.

Sorry about not updating last night, and I would have done it earlier this morning if my driving instructor hadn't turned up (I had forgot I had a lesson).

Well last night was quite hectic and saw me rushing to finish the Bag graphics before I had to turn off. I actually did finish (the actual items that is, I still got to do the descriptions :(), but left myself no time to post a proper update.

So here are all the bag screens minus the descriptions. There's also no cursor on the items themselves, or numbers for the quantity, as they're seperate graphics, and I haven't put these into the game yet.

Once again, thanks to Bruno1440 for helping with the layout.
So there's the screenshots, and here's last nights update.

    Progress Report(s):
    Tuesday 29th May:

Created the houses for Linlea town.
Added an old bat who wants you to get out of her house.
Added a guy waiting on a delivery truck full of food.
Added first encounter with your rival. [I say rival, but you two will really get along ;)]
Started the meeting with Professor Acorn.
Finished the graphics [minus descriptions] of the Bag Screens! Yay! :D

Just pretend I wrote that last night. :)
    Moving on...

I originally said that I was making this game totally on my own. Then I asked if anyone could make a banner. Then I asked if anyone wanted to be a beta tester. Now I've realised that this project is bigger than I first thought, and while it's not out of my reach nor will I give up on it, the game as a whole and the game as individual parts, are going to take me longer to make than I anticipated.
This means that the demo will be postponed for a while, so that by the time of it's release, I'll have a game with more substance, and at least most of the major systems.
The following is what I'm going to have in the demo:
    - Story up until the first town with a gym.
    - Working battle system with all attacks.
    - Full and working Bag system.
    - PC system.
    - Working Menu, Pokedex and Pokegear.
    - Just a small amount of Pokemon and Trainers.
    - Catching system.
I think that's it. If you think I've missed out a main system that you feel needs to be in this small demo, PM me.

So before I go. Anyone who's interested in working on this game (yes I'm asking for a team :P), PM me too.

    Thanks.
