[Game Idea] Pokemon Asterism (Name Pending)

This idea has been bubbling around in my head one way or another for a few months now, and although it has a long way to go, I thought I'd post here for the fun of it.

I want to make a pokemon game that focuses on the wandering, coming-of-age, adventure factor of pokemon. So, this game is set in the Constellation Islands, a small archipelago with a big sense of community. Kids from all over travel here for their pokemon journeys because of the ease of navigation, as well as the multitudes of opportunities awaiting young people there. Besides taking the gym challenge, young trainers can help pokemon researchers, participate in competitions, and learn all about (and try!) the many different jobs they could take when they grow up, and the role that pokemon play in them.

Mechanics wise, some of those jobs would be minigames that would earn the player money, and some of them would be overworld events that might require catching certain pokemon, or exploring new areas, and so on.

The Constellation Islands will probably consist of four major islands, with smaller ones reachable by surf. A major part of this game is that the whole region is available to explore pretty much from the get-go. Areas with wild pokemon will be marked off with signs indicating their difficulty, but public transit between all the towns and cities is available, and cheap. Surf will be available very early into the game, and probably fly will be as well.

Each gym badge earned will increase the next gym's difficulty by a certain amount, so you can't speedrun the gyms, and those gym badges also dictate how difficult the evil baddies' pokemon are. I have not decided what exactly the baddies will be yet, but you can't really have a pokemon game without them, right?

I have names for the town and such, and I've sketched maps, but I've still got no idea on what I want the storyline to be, point by point. Maybe the evil is capitalism? Hm.

I will hopefully update soon with some sketches, and a detailed map of the region.
