Pokemon bank

So I recently was given the gift of a first generation 3DS. I downloaded polemon red and Pokemon bank on there. However everytime I try and open Pokemon bank it says the pokedex can't be found. I gave it some time and beat misty and tried again and still can't find it. Anyone know how to fix this?

While Red, Blue, and Yellow will be compatible with Bank. They are presently not, as they are intended for transfers up to Generation VII.

At this moment, Pokemon Bank is only compatible with X,Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire. You'll just need to wait until they update Bank.
