My name is Wes, and this is my story. Almost two years ago..I thought of leaving what I thought at the time was the worst criminal organization in the land of Orre. But I stayed and now I see that that was the worst decision I could have ever made. There's something worse then Team Snagem. And it's name is Cipher.
Wes looked at the the two figures that had been brought to the Team Snagem hideout with eyes devoid of compassion, devoid of almost any human emotion. One the figures had red hair and was dressed in a red and black trench-coat that almost resembled his. The woman stared up at him with eyes that were filled with...pity?
The second figure looked to be a bit taller then the red haired woman and looked up at Wes with an expression that could only be described as furious. "So. Team Snagem managed to take down the famous rebel, Justy. Tell me, what are you planning on doing with us? Locking us up? Beating us to within an inch of our lives? Don't keep me in suspense." Justy said with no small hint of sarcasm in his voice. The woman continued looking up him, her eyes filled with pity. Despite priding himself on not normally being intimidated by prisoners he couldn't help but be slightly unnerved by this woman's eyes.
"Why do you keep looking at me like that?" He calmly asked. "The Orre resistance is gone. Mount Battle has been conquered and Cipher now has complete control of the region, yet you keep looking at me as if you pity me."
"Because I do." The woman said quietly. "Your destiny was to become the hero of Orre, not to remain a two bit thug who steals Pokemon from other trainers. I've seen what you were supposed to become, Wes."
"How do you know my name? And how do you know my position in Team Snagem?" He asked carefully. As far as he knew, only Gonzap and others in the Snagem organization knew his name and his duties with Team Snagem. There was no way this woman could have gotten hold of this information.
The woman smiled sadly. "Because in another time and another life, you destroyed the Snagem hideout instead of staying with these losers. You stole the Snag machine and managed to capture the Shadow Pokemon that Cipher was creating. You became the hero that Orre needed. But look at your life now, stealing Pokemon for Cipher and being hated almost unanimously by trainers and citizens alike for your actions."
Wes shook his head and looked at her through narrowed eyes. "What is your name?"
The woman smiled. "My name is Rui. And I'm here to tell you that you can still change. I'm here to give you a second chance Wes. All you need to do is open the Pokeball in my pocket. Cipher may have destroyed the Relic stone but they overlooked one thing."
Wes was curious despite himself.
"And what exactly did they forget?"
Rui smiled as Wes pulled the Pokeball out of her pocket and looked at it as the ball opened, seemingly of it's own accord and a flash of red light, a peculiar looking green Pokemon appeared that seemed to stare straight into the depths of Wes's soul as it frowned. It was almost as if the Pokemon were judging him.
"It's name is Celebi." Rui smiled.
"Celebi!" The Pokemon turned to look at Rui and smiled happily. The Pokemon's eyes glowed green for a moment and the handcuffs that had bound Rui and Justy turned to dust and began to spread across the floor. Wes took a step back and shook his head. "What is this? What sort of Pokemon is this?" He asked in a tone that was part amazement and part bewilderment. Rui smiled as the Pokemon landed on her shoulder and the Pokemon smiled at Wes.
"Celebi has the ability to travel through time. When Cipher destroyed the Relic stone, they attracted it's attention. It is said that Celebi appears only in peaceful times, but when Cipher destroyed the Relic stone it was already in Orre. Somehow destroying the Relic stone caused it to decide that it was needed here. I was running from Cipher because I have the ability to see the auras of Shadow Pokemon and they decided to get rid of me before I could interfere in their plans. Wes, you need to understand something, In another world I traveled with you when you destroyed the Snagem Hideout, I was able to identify the Shadow Pokemon and you were able to snag them away. Together we stopped Cipher and saved the Pokemon of Orre."
Wes couldn't help It. A single tear fell from his eye. "A hero...I was a hero in that world." He said quietly.
"Yes. And you can still be a hero in this world." Rui said quietly. "Celebi showed me the future of this world if Cipher is allowed to continue. It's...It's not pretty." She said quietly. "Pokemon from all over the world will be turned into Shadow Pokemon if Cipher isn't stopped. It's not too late to stop them here...Celebi can change our world for the better if you agree to trust it for just a moment."
Rui looked over at Celebi and nodded. A swirling wind began to form in the hideout as the wind continued to grow in strength. A swirling ball of green light began to rapidly form in the Snagem hideout in front of Wes. Wes looked into the swirling ball of light and his jaw dropped in amazement as images began to form in the ball.
"-How does it feel? How does it feel to have saved Orre?" a woman holding a microphone asked. Wes smiled as Rui stepped forward. She was dressed differently. Rui smiled brightly. "It feels great!" She bubbled excitedly. Wes grinned again. "I couldn't have done it without Rui. She was the one who managed to find out which one were Shadow Pokemon and which ones weren't."
The reporter smiled and looked towards a camera. "There you go folks! This concludes out interview here at the Realgam tower where the Administrators and the Head of Cipher himself have been brought into custody by the mysterious couple."
Rui suddenly blushed a bright red and Wes turned his head to the side so that it couldn't be seen by the cameras but as he watched he assumed that this other version of him was also blushing.
"Was that my destiny?" Wes asked quietly. "What changed? Why didn't that happen here?"
Rui shook her head. "I don't know. The only thing that seems possible is that in another world, the relic stone was destroyed, and when it was, it could have changed things in various other worlds." Rui looked at Celebi and saw that it was nodding. Wes turned to look at his Espeon and Umbreon that were hiding under a nearby table. Wes had been forced to hide them since Cipher had managed to take over most of Orre. Not even his position as a Pokemon snagger with Team Snagem was enough to keep them safe.
He turned to look at Rui and Justy with a certain question already forming in his head. "If this is done...what happens to this world? Will it be destroyed? Will it be different? Will anyone remember what I've done?"
Rui looked down for a moment before looking back up at Wes. "I think it will change around us. From what I've seen and what I've heard about people who have had encounters with Celebi, only people who are in the immediate vicinity of Celebi will remember the change but I could be wrong, for all we know, we could forget everything that happened in this world."
Wes looked at the floating Pokemon and extended his hand towards it as a commanding voice rang out through the Snagem hideout.
"Hyper Beam!"
"Down!" Justy shouted as he pushed Rui out of the way as a beam of energy slammed into the space where she had been standing a moment ago, taking out a large portion of the wall and the rooms behind it.
A figure with long, flowing silver hair approached the small group, with a massive blue Metagross following in his wake. "We wondered where Celebi vanished to after the Relic stone was destroyed. We should have known it would try and associate with the resistance."
Justy got to his feet and pulled a Pokeball from a hidden pocket under his belt.
"You two! Run! I'll hold Nascour here!" Justy shouted as a Machamp appeared in a blaze of light. Rui grabbed Wes's hand and pulled him away from the scene of the battle as the sound of combat echoed through the hideout. Celebi flying right next to Wes's shoulders.
"You need to make a choice, Wes! Either be a hero or be despised! You can save Orre! But you need to decide now!"
Wes looked back and saw Metagross easily take down the Machamp and then slammed into Justy, knocking him into a wall. Nascour pointed at Wes and Rui then smiled darkly.
"Hyper Beam!"
Wes grabbed Rui's hand and took Celebi's hand in his other hand. For a moment all he saw was the beam of energy erupt from Metagross's mouth before he was blinded for a moment as his entire world turned green.
Rui...
Realgam Tower
"This is the OBN broadcasting here live from Realgam Tower where two young heroes may have just saved the entire Orre Region."
Wes looked around him as countless people cheered for him and applauded him as he looked at two men who were being led away in cuffs and were being escorted by a group of trainers who looked angry. Nascour...Evice...I stopped them?
Of course he had stopped them. With Rui on his side, how could he have not? Still, something felt odd. He was happy...but at the same time he couldn't help but feel he had forgotten something. Wes shook his head, whatever it was, it must not have been important.
"How does it feel to have stopped Cipher and saved Orre?" A reporter asked loudly, fighting to be heard over the cheering crowd. Rui stepped forward and pulled Wes along with her. Her face had a massive smile on it and Wes felt his heart beat a little faster as she grabbed his hand. "It's great! It's not everyday you get to save all of Orre and save Pokemon!"
The reporter turned to look at Wes and smiled as both his Umbreon and Espeon stared up at her. "And what about you, young man? How does it feel to have saved everything? To have rescued so many Pokemon?"
Wes smiled as he tightened his hand around Rui's and smiled at her.
"It feels right."
