Hello guys, I have decided to create my own in-game challenge. Unlike the Nuzlocke Challenge, it is not designed to make the game TOO much harder. It is instead designed to give you a sort of 'fun run' of any Pokemon game, and allow you a good through play through. It can work on any of the games, but I feel it works best with Soul Silver/Heart Gold, purely because of the larger pokemon variety. It may or not be your idea of fun, depending on what you are into, but here are the rules.
I call it,
The Pokemon 'Cookies and Cream' Challenge.
The basic idea of this challenge is that you always have a team of 4-6 Pokemon with you. However, to make things a little more difficult (and less predictable) you may only take the Pokemon you capture with you up to the next gym badge. You don't need to release them, if you want you can just deposit all but 1 of them into the PC. Use your final pokemon to catch a new one, then deposit it into the PC and re-build your team from scratch using the newly caught pokemon.
Rules:
1) Nickname ALL your pokemon, and make it good!
2) Once you have a new gym badge, you must NOT back-track to routes previously visited. You already had your choice of pokemon along those routes, you must use pokemon from the next routes for your new team.
3) Likewise, you cannot run past the gym and catch pokemon in the next few routes too early.
4) You can level up as much as you want, evolve what you want, and hatch what you want. But once you have that Gym badge, poof! Team out.
5) If you have an egg, wherever you are on the map you can keep the pokemon up till the next Gym badge.
6) No trading (except in-game trades)
7) Oh and be sure to give your rival a fitting name that makes you snigger each time you see him :)
Optional Rules:
7) It is up to you if you want to keep it at 6 Pokemon per 'game section', or catch tons of Pokemon and switch them in and out of your team. I wouldn't really understand you doing so, but if you want to train as many as you can, then go for it!
8) Up until yet I haven't had a problem finding Pokemon for my HM moves included in the team, and since your pokemon will not be with you for all that long anyway, you may as well make 'finding ones that will also do for HM's in that section of the game' part of the challenge. If you are struggling though, you can keep a HM slave in your PC. But you must NOT battle with it.
Anyway that's my challenge. Sorry if there are any faults but I am yet to find any, let me know if there's anything that needs covering. I created it to give people the chance to raise a ton of pokemon whilst in-game, as normally people only focus on a strong team of 6 throughout. Many Pokemon get overlooked and the same ones are used over and over. Give it a try because it actually is really fun. Like I said before I'm using Soul-Silver because it has a large variety of pokemon, and I'm really enjoying it.
Good luck!
