Well yeah i mean ok some are usless but then again its showing that nintendo is willing to go:
Hey lets make a pokemon so abstract it wont even be noticable as shaymin!
Yeah i got that message out of nintendo from looking at it.Anyweh its showing that they dont care what the fans think. They just say hey thats a good enough idea no? And personally i would agree. Im acually waiting to see what they do for gen 5 starters. Oh and when i say new vs old i mean it. Which would you choose from the poll ill make cause it cant be done in poll form:
Pidgeot the long haired pigeon or Staraptor the emo haired hawk
Blastoise the turtle with water cannos or empoleon the giant metal penguin with horns
Dragonite a dragon that doesnt look dragony enough or flygon the epic beauty

See what i mean. A lot of the newer ones would be perferablle no?

Didn't really understand much of that. But you'll get bad designs and some good ones. The thing is, some Pokémon look great in the anime, while they might have terrible sprite designs. There is amazing designs, bad ones and okay ones. Can't expect everything to be perfect.

I used to hate the Hoenn Pokémon, but i've grown to like most of them now. Hopefully i'll feel the same with the Sinnoh Pokémon. Although I loved the Kanto and Johto designs from the start. Although I wish they'd stop making every Pokémon have an evolution, Magmortar?

Agreed! I hate magnezone but i love and i mean love mr potato head aka probopass.

I love the designs of Roserade and Cresselia aswell as Vespiquen and Exploud. The past two generations have had some of the best designs i my opinion.

I'm half agreed on you there ^^

I really like the sprites that are in the D/P games. I prefer them to the R/S/E sprites because they seem better standing and 'made'.
The revamped colours also add some more colour to our screens which is always fun.

On the other hand, I do believe some of the Pokémon which have been created are ridiculous. For example, Bidoof. That Pokémon has no actual use other than to bug you on Routes with their stupid cry >>
But, if Nintendo were to make Bidoof cooler, it'd get way more fans XD

It'd be impossible to make bidoof 'cool' unless they ditched them.

Also I hate Charizards pose in DP and hope for better in Platina, maybe something like the F!reRed Sprite.

I don't mind Charizard's pose in DP. The one with his mouth closed is good, but i'd like to see him and other flying Pokémon actually fly in their poses.

Well, you have to understand that the concept artist(s) is(are) probably getting better due to experience and therefore the spriters have more to work with when it's their turn to start creating. One must also remember that the artists are probably trying to give the sprites from the older generations the same "feeling" they had back in the days of that said generation and therefore, do not have quite as much freedom to pose them as they do with the newest generation. Finally, one must commiserate with the spriters of the older games because they had drastically less to work with than they do now. Think how much bigger the sprites can be and how much more color they can have now when compared to the sprites of Red and Blue.

This is my best explanation as to why the sprites generally look more appealing in the newer games versus those in older games. With changing times comes greater technology and better experience. I'm sure generation five will look even more spectacular than generation four.

I don't understand the Bidoof hate. Sure, it's omnipresent, but so are Rattata and Poochyena. Bibarel seems like a generic starter wild, but it distinguishes itself with Super Fang (First Pokemon since Raticate to get it), Normal/Water typing, and Simple ability, and heck, it's better than the practically worthless starter Bugs.

People im talking bout the pokemon itself not the sprite! 12 posts for norhing thats what. Anwyeh if the first post wasnt clear ill make it more simple. Basically i think that most of the 3rd generation and 4th generation pokemon are better then gen 1 and 2. Xept charizard and feraligatr. Oh and lugia. Otherwise i hate em all mostly.

well... they certainly are evolving. (no pun intended)

I kinda think it's all cool and stuff to see what they can do every generation... like the cute electric type. Kanto has good ol' Pikachuu, Johto has Pichuu, Hoenn has Pulse and Minun, and Sinnoh has Pachirisuu.

Perhaps next time we'll see a.... um... I dunno any other rodents >.<

The squirrel evo of pachirisu thats what! Anwyeh i just noticed something. Is it me or are the dragons getting more dragony? I mean dragonite was practically a godzilla look a like to me and hoenns dragons where realdragons.

Yes, the designs are getting better, but I think we have enough pokemon in the world... xD

I'd like to see around 40 Pokémon added next gen, don't go for a 100. Pick the best designs, then the anime wouldn't be so much filler episodes to introduce the new Pokémon aswell. I say again, I don't like all these pre-evolutions and next evolutions added in. Yeh some are okay, like Magby, Pichu, Munchlax, Electivire. But Magmortar? Tangelica or whatever, Honkrow? Lickilily? Lame.

the new grass form ofRotom is beautifully designed looing very mischeivous.
