    Part 1:
im thinking of starting my game over in either ruby or emerald but idk which one, any suggestions?

    Part 2:
any suggestions on which pokemon i should train this time around?
(im just starting a regular adventure, no trade ins or anything)

Hmm... restart Emerald For sure more trainers it harder to train in ruby. As for a team

chose mudkip, catch shroomish, catch zigzagoon, catch absol and a flying pokemon

go for emerald! battle frontier, more pokemon, etc

if your playing emerald i would start with mudkip (its what i'm doing), then catch a grass type such as shroomish, who evolves into a grass/fighting type (breloom), fighting types would be useful against the 1st, 3rd and the 5th (definitely the 5th), a flying type such as tailow or swablu would be useful too (evolution of Swablus is part dragon type), a dark type may also come in handy too for the 7th badge against solrock and lunatone, an electric type such as pikachu who would be useful against winona, sidney (against his sharpedo) and the champion, a fire type such as rapidash would be useful against the ice type elite 4 member and possibly even the 3rd gym (magnemite and magneton are part steel)

your finished team would be something like Swampert, Pikachu / Raichu, Breloom, Swellow / Altaria, Mightyena / Umbreon / Absol, Ninetales / Camerupt, if a Houndour could be found within Emerald i would suggest that as it is Fire / Dark and would leave you a slot free for another pokemon (e.g. a legendary)

Yes, what the above poster said, but I would have a good Bug type at the beginning for your rival's starter, if you choose Mudkip. At least until you can catch a fire type.

I think you should use Pokémon that you have never used. Thats what I would do =S

I agree with Shiranai, use new pokemos just for the thrill of it. oh and restart ruby, its more classic i like it better at least.

Okay... there was a bit of debate as to what to do with this thread, but I think it's settled XD

There's a stickied thread at the top of the forum for asking for help with teams, try there for suggestions on it. With that said, I don't see any problem with leaving this thread open for discussing your first part, about whether to start in Ruby or Emerald gurl.

tl;dr this thread is now for topic 1 XD

I think since this is topic one now, you should try a monotype challenge, and not evolve the Pokemon. Or catch whatever Pokemon you want and not evolve them, challenge yourself =)
