So before anything...I'm a complete noob when it comes to this. So pardon me if I sound incredibly stupid.

I've been looking into tools for a few days and haven't found a good one to edit Emerald text.

I know about Advance text, but I've heard it can corrupt my game. I looked into XSE since they offered it as an alternative to AT, but I don't know how to access the game npc text to edit it. I also want to edit Prof.Birch's intro message, can I do that with XSE?

    Any help is appreciated.

    EDIT!
I've realized that what I was thinking doesn't need a lot of tools. But I have another problem. I started editing the npcs' dialogue and some of them get duplicated or even cut off. How can I fix this?

When you edit existing scripts you can not make them any longer than they are or other data already in the game will be overwritten. Just learned this today when changing what npcs in pallet town say. Either the sign girl or the technology dude text would get overwritten by the other's depending on who was talked to first.
