I've had pokemon red, yellow, blue, silver,gold and ruby, and i want to get a new one. I've narrowed it down to 2, firered or emerald which one shuld i get?

Emerald version because it has the Battle Frontier and it has way more better things then FR. But if you really want to taste the the new version I suggest FR because you already have Ruby version and Emerald is similar to it.

If you can, I would get both. You can save some money by going to a gaming store and buy a used version (not to mention the fact you might get lucky and get some pretty good Pokes - I got a Lv13 Celebi from my used Ruby version) of each.
But if it HAS to be one or the other, I would definitely suggest Emerald. FireRed is nice, but Emerald is hands down the best (advanced gen) game on the market. The playability and the breeding aspects, not to mention the wicked awesome Battle Frontier, are well worth it. While you won't get the Legendary Birds or Mewtwo, you do get all 3 Hoenn Legendaries and you can even choose which Lati@s you want to catch. That in of itself is awesome, especially since you already have Ruby.

Yeah you really should get both because you can't get alot of Pokemon in Emerald version but you can get Pokemon from FR version.

Well... the annoyin thing about FR is that you hav to do loads of annoyance before u can trade with RSE... I like both of them though.

but it is worth it if you really look deep into it. You can get some Johto Pokemon in FR/LG. While in Emerald there is a whole bunch of Johto Pokemon in the Safari zone after you beat the Elite 4 and you get the Pokedex upgrade.
